adjusted the actuator yesterday for a little bit more boost!

hasnt made a great deal of difference but the boost is a little more aggressive! its only on a standard map, so if i get it remapped ill have to adjust it back cuz i take it i will hit the boost cut off at 20psi?

free power tho i suppose!

you must have resesarched it well

it's not free power when you're sat getting limp mode....

Adjust away if you dont get limp mode, but the knock on is your working the turbo harder.

What you on about the cut off boost thing? Dont understand that.

I would never touch the actuator, you are asking for trouble

i think i read on this forum somewhere, where if you reach 20psi it cuts boost back to 0? obvioulsy i wont reach that with standard map, but if i was to have it mapped i would have to adjust the actuator back to where it was. cuz doesnt a remap run 18psi on standard actuator setting? or am i wrong?

ive marked where it was and counted the turns made to the actuator rod so i can put it back if i have any problems

Mates just been round telling me bout my other mates ibiza, hes just adjusted the actuator on his mapped ibiza, next day hes asking if i have my old k03 from my k03s swap as his turbo has just blew up..... theres a reason why you dont adjust the actuator.

yeh your mates is mapped, mines only standard! like i say i will adjust back if i have it mapped! it may work the turbo harder, but so will mapping it!

if anything does happen with my turbo ill probs end up goin for k04?

theres no such thing as a "boost cut" when you hit 20psi, the ECU requests and set amount of boost from the engine and the engine delivers the requested amount of boost as closely as possible and within set levels, if the boost exceeds these levels then the ECU will enter the car into "limp mode" and boost to a maximum of 5psi, std boost on your car is 7-8psi

they shouldn't do..... but some mappers have been known

thats why I asked, and exactly what I thought, that decent tuners dont wind it up on the pysical actuator and its all done through the ECU

hence why its not a good idea to do it yourself....if the professionals are not doing it then I would definitely NOT recommend it!

I would seriously suggest winding it back, or it could be doing damage - why risk a turbo or other such parts/internals just for a bit of extra power. Go and get it mapped properly i say

the thing is there should be no need to do it...i look at logs of my revo'd car and and can see that if i adjusted my actuator to work the turbo harder, it would be the end of my turbo

now phils adjusted his based on what his logs are telling him which is that the turbo isnt working very hard at all.

if you want to adjust your actuator on a standard car then fine...you've been warned, but its up to you. at the end of the day a remapped model is going to have more power without straining the turbo as much because his isn't mechanically forcing the turbo to work harder

ok cheers, well i dont really wana spend on mapping it unless i go for a k03s or k04 first!

i pulled on an 180bhp leon in a straight line last night so must of made a difference! lol

but to be safe to my day to day car, i think ill change it back, considering you guys know a thing or two from experience with cupras.
