wheres all the rice?? - looks like a tin of tika
i do mine every 2 weeks, mine normally looks more like a corma though.
but again, best engine mod to do if your not going to do any thing else!

a question to as any one with one fitted - do you have yours conneted to the tip OR atmosferic (spelling)
and - if you connected to the tip did you remove the pcv valve or leave it on?

iv gone to the tip removing the valve but iv seen otheres done diffrent - i know Bill prefurs them venting atmosferic and iv read on a mk4 golf forum that he left the pcv in and conneted to that...

Terry i have mine connected to the tip. I have also removed the pcv valve. I spoke to bill about venting to atmosphere he says this is the best way as it will stop all crap going back into the tip, how ever it will stink. With it connected to the tip you will have no smell, also the can still works very well as you can see from my pics. So id say venting to atmosphere collects 100% of crap and connected to the tip collects 90%. Still thats 90% better than not having one at all :)

over what time period was that built up?

looks a lot like heavy engine breathing to me :(

No, its due to the cold weather and condonsation it fills quicker, thats taken around 4 months to fill, most of it is water, the oil floats to the top.

ahh 4 month isnt that bad then :), plus if its water too.... brings back memories of my first car, it could magically teleport 3 litres of engine oil to the airbox in 24 hours lol it was a bit shafted lol

not good at all lol
iv done mine to the tip, no pcv, depending on how you vent it will depend on how bad it smells, if you just vent it in the bay then yea it will stink, not only that but cover ya bay in shat too, if you use more pipe and vent it out the bottom of the bay though all the shat hits the road so does the smell, (its venting away from the air vent inder the bonnet).... just a thought

Hi all,

I'm planning on fitting a catch can in the near future and would like to fit it in the sam place as sambryant, the problem I have though is I've got a front strut brace which I'm sure will foul on the pipes. My question is, do the pipes into the catch tank have to point downwards or would pipes entering the can at a 90 degree angle be fine?

like this:
Catch Can

Thanks for any help

Hi all, looks like this is another mod for me to consider and I think by reading all the posts here that I have a good understanding of its fitment and operation however where the 90degree bend comes out of the block, it T's right away and feeds to a nipple on the inlet manifold doesn't it?. If I was to do a complete PCV removing, what happens to this nipple on the manifold, is it left open to the atmosphere?

Edit: Looking here at Sam's picture, he has the Forge Silicone Breater kit, you can see the Forge hose. What happens to these? This is where I have a leak currently.

Im really sorry to sound like an absolute tosspot asking this but i need to straighten my head before i fit mine tomorrow, i have removed PCV already and blanked under mani, so now do i run one 19mm from the above 90degree bend to t-piece with 1 end goin to rocker and one to catch can then other outlet on catch can to the tip? thanks and i really do apologise for sounding like a numpty lol

the forge breather kit is removed and blocked off at the manifold. the red t is removed and a straight hose is fitted onto the 90 degree that comes out of the block, the end of your new hose joins the catch can

Ive changed the brake booster piping to silicon stuff so its a straight piece of hose with the two one way valves in place pretty much where they were, brake booster now pretty much runs from inlet manifold to brake servo in a straight line no ypieces etc, and brakes are fine
