Advice needed with keys

Hi folk, can somone offer advise on this one please?

Just bought a 52 plate Leon 1.6S, which has only one complete key. The key blade starts the car fine, and the 2 button remote works fine on the central locking.

I also have another 2 button remote which also works fine on the central locking, but no key blade on this one.

I've seen a couple of uncut blades on ebay for £15, but can anyone tell me if the immobiliser chip is built into the key blade or in the remote bit?

In other words, is the coding for the immobiliser already in the remote section I already have, and therefore any key blade needing only cutting, or would the new blade have to be programmed by Seat even though the remote bit works OK?

Also, is it possible for any friendly member to do any programming via VAGCOM on the Leon? I have a microCAN lead myself, but I take it I'll need someone with HEX-CAN to do any coding or alterations? Or is it a Seat main dealer job?

Thanks

Mike

Just split my key apart, if the 1.6 has the same 2 buttton no-flip type like my 180 LC the transponder/immobiliser is built into the blade part of the key,

Thanks Steely, just what I didn't want to hear.

So the new key blade will definately have to be coded to the car then?

Next question is Can this be done by someone with VAGCOM/VCDS, or is it a main dealer job?

Thanks

I have Leon 1,6 2002 and want to buy a new flip remote key.

I have 2b remote key part.no. 1MO 959753D 433MHz and find a new remote flip key 434MHz part.no. 1JO959753 DA. Before I order it can anyone tell me is it compatible with my existing key.
If it is possible, probably I need it to reprogram it with Vag-com.

Thanks

New key arrived from the seller on eBay on Friday, and I've been into Hobin Seat in Preston today to get it coded.

All went really smoothly, and they charged me a half hours labour.

Cost of key with new transponder, including post £17.98
Labour charge at Hobins Seat £41.69

Total cost £59.67
