First of all may i take this oppurtunity, to say hi to all, having not been on site for a while, so to all out there, a BIG, BIG UP.
Thinking of lowering my toledo v5, have the option of 60mm or 40mm, am i heading for any problems, heard some stories about, whacking the sump, causing damage with 60mm, drop.
So as much advice you can give me, much appreciated, laters.

I have reptuted 40mm drop on eibach pro.......never grounded on anything.
i think Miniator has dropped lower than that....and after recent banter i think he said he hadnt grounded either......
not sure how low he is though.....try doing a search.. :)

Cheers Sam, done a search, looks like there are problems, if you go to low, although at the moment i'm running on 18" rims but with 35mm wall on tyres, friends have told me not to go for 60mm, got to take into consideration for passengers and the biggest problem we have these days SPEED HUMPS, so it's looking like 40mm, cheers

A 40mm drop on 18" will look good.....the wheel appears to fill the arch more so than the 17" that i run......Speed bumps are a pain in the butt...i still slow down for them, my sump is to valuable!
Not sure on the Calcs to be honest, but for a size match you should running 40/18" to keep the speedo in check.....dont think it makes a massive difference, just so long as you are aware of it. Dont want a few points from the fuzz.......these points dont get you prizes!!!:D

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated, got the wheels as a package, so already had 35mm wall, but i would prefer to be running on 40mm wall, something to take into consideration, but still have loads of tread left, cheers

The 40 (or 35) on the side of your tyre is actually a % of the width.

215/40s are skinnier than say 235/40s on the same wheel ... just so you don't get funny looks at tyre stockists ;)

You can pick up some pretty decent coilovers cheap nowadays for the Leon/Toledo - don't have to worry about the springs sagging or finding you've chosen springs too low for that one speedhump at the end of the road

So coilovers are definately, the way forward, was thinking of spring and suspension kit, but i can wait, if you think coilover kit is the right choice, but then i,ve heard that if you do not maintain thread on arm on coilovers, i.e grease them up on regular bases, your heading for problems, so is the spring and suspension kit the right choice ?
As for tyre sizes , i did believe, that the first number is width of tyre, the second number is wall width of tyre and the third rim size hence 215/35/18 and after this ,you would have a speed rating i.e a letter like w
