Hi there all I'm hoping you can help me, I've just sold my Celica and now have a chunk of money towards the Cupra that I want (Not a LCR sadly) but instead just the 180,

I've seen a particular one that I'm liking the look of, It's Imperial Blue on a Y Plate it's done 123k with a Full Main Dealer history,
The cambelt was done at 80k so I'm thinking it should be ok,

I've seen the threads advising about wet carpets / whistles from Turbo's / smoke etc but I'm curious as to if the theory would be a fairly safe bet.

The only thing which concerns me slightly is after calling the guy selling it (trader) he didn't know much about the car apart from what was on the advert etc. It could be that he doesn't really know much about the car in particular which seems a tad strange :(

I apologise for a silly thread if it seems that way but I've always been a Jap fan but I've finally had enough of the rust issues that blight them.

Any advice would be very much appreciated please only I don't want to spend money I don't particularly have on what could possibly be a bit of a donkey.

I'm thinking the service history should cover quite a bit of the main issues but I'd like a second opinion :)

Sorry again and thanks

Ryan

are there receipts to back up the service history,

Its easy to buy fully stamped service books from ebay and falsify the car details.
I would even give a seat dealer a call or pop in with details. They should have the car service history on computer if its been serviced at dealers.

This is copied from the advert so I would assume so :)

I wouldn't buy another car from eBay had too many issues before lol

THIS LOVELY CAR COMES WITH FULL MAIN DEALER SERVICE HISTORY WITH BILLS MOUNTING TO THOUSANDS OF POUNDS & ALL OLD MOTS, LAST SERVICE AT 117k, ONLY 1 PREVIOUS OWNER CURRENT OWNER FOR LAST 10 YEARS

Excuse the caps :)

I may well call Seat and ask them although wouldn't I need the VIN for it? I can do it if they can use the Reg but not the VIN until tomorrow when the dealer gets back to the yard :)

The carpet thingy is a comon issue, I'm currently going through this at the moment but I have started to replaced the sealant and it's not a hard job at all

Temp sensor and thermostat are comon issues too but again not to hard to fix

guy knowing nothing about the car isn't that strange... He's a dealer, taken the car part ex and now selling it on. Doesn't mean theres anything wrong with it, just be extra careful. If you can check with Seat on the FSH, with the last mot you can check the cars mot history, see how many advisorys it got last time.. Any discrepency between what the guy selling it tells you and what the paperwork says
walk away.. If he lies about 1 thing, what else is there.. check the obvious things, filler cap.. electrics work ok, when you test drive take it all the way up through the gears and the revs, you need a good blast along some national speed limit road where you can open it up a bit.. A dealer that has nothing to hide will do anything to sell the car... one thats being cagey is trying to hide something.

When i bought my cupra dealer gave me the keys, said come back when i had a smile on my face.... the previous guy insiste he had to drive and wouldn't get within 10mph of the speed limit sayinig he didnt like to drive fast lol..

If it all adds up then its a great car, you wont be disappointed

Hi there thanks, I've gonme and given it a test run and have bought the car I got it for 925 in the end so a pretty good price I think, It's got an issue with the remote central locking, The fob works but the signal's not strong enough, When I get into the car the hazards flash for around 10-15 seconds then the car runs fine the hazards go stop flashing and the car is fine to drive so I'll see if I can get it sorted eventually (It's had door modules replaced / new key etc)

Today after taking it for a run I've noticed a whistle from the turbo between 2-3k mainly under hard acceleration (when driven normally it's fine) it's a high pitched whistle, when you lift off it stops not like the siren so I'm thinking a leak somewhere :)

Apart from that I'm really enjoying the car, 3 owners since new and literally thousands spent.

It could do with a service as the oil was changed 6k ago so I'll get that done ASAP as well :)

Cheers
