Hi,
I have recently taken my Leon 1.6 in for its first MOT as the warranty was going to run out September 29th. I had the car MOT'd, serviced and a few warranty checks before it ran out.
I have only done 10k in the car as I am a runner and my work is only 4 miles away. Within the 3 years I have only had it serviced once as the dealer told me 10k or 3 years. I now have found this not to be true
One of the problems I had was the exhaust sounded very throaty but I was assured this was normal. It passed its MOT without any repairs needed and everything seemed fine.
I have only done around 30-50 miles since all the work was done and to my horror the Emmission warning light appeared on my dash.
Taking it back to the dealer they now tell me its the front G39 Lambda sensor (part number: 06A906262 BR) and it will cost me around £220 (reduced) for the repair to be carried out
I feel really annoyed at the fact that this wasnt noticed and it all of a sudden goes after taking it into the dealers. I dont have this money at the moment so I am having to leave my car in the garage more than normal.
Is there a way of seeing if it is faulty? Someone has told me to disconnect my battery for 30 minutes then start my car and leave it running for a while. Someone else has told me to do it myself as it would cost half the price.
The garage has also told me that I will be unlikely to get Seat to fix it as its out of warranty and they no longer give good will gestures due to the current climate.
I feel that its really coincidental that I have got this problem so soon after taking it in.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
