Aerial problems (or something...)

On my two hour drive to work this morning the radio gave up the ghost - all the presets just gave white noise, same for scanning, same on FM, LW, MW... (cd still works though.) Popped out to the car at lunchtime thinking that the aerial must have come out of the back of the radio, but noooo. It sounds (or rather doesn't sound) exactly like a radio with no aerial...

Any ideas? Do I have a short in the aerial plug? I guess a short in the co-ax run is unlikely? How does the aerial end of the co-ax connect to the aerial?

The cable attached to the aerial itself is usually hard wired but its definately worth a quick look.
If you know a local car hifi dealer well you could always ask them to plug an aerial in to the HU just to prove its not the HU.

How old is the car?

Hi. In my case, the problem was down to a broken head unit. I tried another head unit, that I had lying around doing nothing, and it worked - so I stuck with that.
