Hi everyone.

My 2001 Toledo V5 170BP version need some new stoppers. I am pondering the decision of what to go for, do I get OE or go aftermarket like Greenstuff or Mintex? I seem to recall the previous owner saying he had a fight with the rear discs for some reason, so Har if you still frequent these forums please send me a message as I cant remember what you said!

The largest deciding factor will be the £'s as money is pretty tight at present :(

I have tried Google and have found a few options but was wondering if anyone on here had any suggestions before I start ordering what could be potentialy a bad choice.

Thanks in advance.

i wanted to do a brake upgrade on mine but since finding out that the calipers were part of the hub i can wait a little longer... if the leon carriers are part of the the hub then thats the best option, otherwise i doubt its possible to go much bigger in disc size without a lot and lot of work

OEM brakes are fine but be prepared to pay through the nose if you get them replaced by a dealer. I'd shop around if I were you, sticking with the main brands.

Which make of brake pads is best to go for, Febi or EBC Ultimax Brake Pads DP1330? The Febi has wear indicator, does anyone know if the EBC ones do? The prices are similar.

Thanks.

AVS are a good place to get the parts from. As far as I can see they reasonably priced: http://www.vwspares.co.uk/

I have Rossini Brake Disc's on mine and got the pads from them two as they seemed to be of a similar price to the ones from AVS. The Rossini's are much more expensive, but on the plus side, I found the stopping power to be very good and the pads and discs lasted 3 years together with quite a lot of mountain driving as I was living in the Spanish Pyrenees for the best part of a year.

Fitting the fronts is a piece of cake, but the rears can be a right pig. The main issue is getting the new pads on as it is a very tight space.

Hy guys, why dony you try serenmotors here in seatcupra, u have the 170 bhp version,y reg and this was wat he quoted me a week ago:
"seremotors
SEAt dealer

should be standard discs, a vin number would confirm.
if so, rear discs £32 a pair and rear pads £22 a set (SEAT) or £12 (Mintex)
unfortunately there would be £15 courier delivery as they are too heavy to post cheaply " .these are seat original parts as well,so you cant go wrong with him.best of luck.
