Hi

So, I've ordered a spoiler online, which obviously is not like the original one.

I took it to Seat to get it painted, and then they started telling that I can damage the trunk if I installed it and then I would need to replace it all, which would be €€€

I don't know if they were actually being honest or just trying to scare me so I would buy an original one from them.

So I'm here, asking if any of you has installed one of these or even the original one. Any pictures provided would be awesome

Thank you!

I bought an original Cupra one from SEAT - they told me the same

They said they have screwed a few up - said better to get it painted and fitted at a body shop

I would agree, body shop would be a much better place to get it painted and fitted.

That is a fibreglass spoiler, the quality is nowhere near the same as the original seat part which will be made from abs plastic.

You need to take that to a body / paint shop for fitting

Stick with the one you have - it looks like it’s easier to mount than the cupra one. I have an fr st and there really isn’t much choice out there.

Hell of a difference in price too- £407!!!! Unpainted- I recon once I have it painted and fitted it will be close to £600!!

I'd have it painted and fitted at another bodyshop as a SEAT shop will probably be a lot more expensive for labour (if it's anything like their service charges).
I had a spoiler painted and fitted to a RS Clio a few years ago and it cost £150 all in with 12 months warranty

Exatcly, for this piece, the SEAT shop charges around 100€ for the painting + 50€/hour to get it fitted

I'll check another bodyshop this weekend, I'll give you updates

It's amazing what a spoiler does to these cars :D

Did you ask whoever fitted it if it was an easy job? I've read the fibreglass ones aren't an exact shape fit??

Exactly! Without the spoiler it just doens't look right to me

Regarding the fitment, it requires a little bit extra work as it needs to be straightened/smoothed so that these small flaws don't stand out after it gets painted, but it fits right I think, obviously not as perfect as OEM.

So, is it worth it? You decide, here's what I've spent:
Fiberglass:
- 70€ for the spoiler (plus 25€ for shipment)
- 130€ to get it painted and mounted (smoothing&glue included)

OEM:
- 272.97€ for the piece
- 43€ for the glue
- 200-350€ to get it painted and fitted

Total: 225€ (+-200£) vs 600£ (as @thebrief1979 shared with us)
