I'm going to replace my factory stereo with an aftermarket one in my 2004 Alhambra 1.9 PD SE. Does anybody know if it is just a straight swap or do I need something for the aerial (I have read there is an amplifier on some in the base but to be honest I don't know where my aerial is). Also, I've read about terminal no.3 (K-line). Would this need isolating. Thanks

I fitted an aftermarket stereo - USB and Bluetooth to my 2004 model about 4/5 years ago (car has gone now). It was a straight swap. The items I needed were:

a cage... this might well come with the new stereo. Otherwise good car audio dealers sell them.

An adaptor to provide a feed for the aerial amplifier. I recall I needed a further adaptor as the aerial plug on the car was different to the socket on the aerial adaptor. Halfords might have all these.

Keys to extract the OEM stereo.

The new stereo came with a harness that included the connectors necessary to swap the switched and permanent 12V feeds as VAG cars wire these opposite to everyone else. The instructions with my aftermarket stereo covered this in detail.

Elastoplast for inevitable cuts and bruises!

I fitted a Kenwood single Din Radio/CD/USB/Bluetooth unit. I ran the USB cable though the cubbyhole under the radio and positioned the microphone on top of the steering column housing with a little double sided foam sticky tape.

Thanks. I have ordered an adaptor for the amplifier feed off e-bay (£5 instead of £15 from Halfords) and I have the other adaptor already. Only changing it because a CD is stuck in the seat head unit. Just putting a cheap Pioneer CD/MP3 player in with front USB and audio in.
