Hi,

Currently looking at putting an after market head unit in my Mk2 facelift. I've found a few on ebay and most say their compatible with both VW and Seat (it's the steering controls I'm most interested in really...) is it the same CAN-BUS in both VW and Seat - i.e will it work?

if you search ebay for - Android 4.0.4 40W VW Car Stereo thats what im looking at

Cheers

Have you thought about getting an RCD510 or RNS510 by VW as they are pretty much a straight swap without having any extra connectors to the current quad lock and all steering wheel controls work out the box...

I would check you can get the facia as I've seen a few people struggling to get hold of it and I'd hate to have a stereo and no facia lol

My 2 pennies...

I'm pretty sure the car doesn't come with the Bluetooth module for the 510s - I'm looking to spend less than the £300ish for the 2nd hand stereo + £100 for the Bluetooth module. I imagine installing that would be a pain too. The nav systems on the stock units apparently aren't great too, but I can't say I've had a chance to play

Thanks for the suggestion though - I'm looking into the rns315

you dont need the bluetooth module in the car if the head unit comes with bluetooth in built.

i changed my RNS310(none BT) to the RNS315(with BT) and disconnected the in car BT Module.
