Looking to upgrade to either an Ibiza Cupra or Leon Cupra in just under a years time and I've already been looking at insurance prices for both. I'll be 21 when it comes to that time and will have 1 year NCB and 2 and a half years driving experience, I'm getting quoted 1.3k for an Ibiza Cupra and 2.2k for a Leon Cupra (yes I have entered what my future details will be).

Just wondering is this normal/reasonable? I will have saved enough to buy an Ibiza Cupra cash by then (if all goes well in the meantime) and have found some cheap lease deals for a Leon Cupra as I'm sure a lot of you have also.

Cheers!

Its a shame young people have to pay so much for insurance I no some youngster dive like a complete moron, but middle aged drivers are more likely to get done for drink driving.
When I had my Cupra at 57 years young was £225 think it was a group 30, protected no claims, legal free protection full no claims bonus, now pay £265 for my Merc group 42 and living in a low cost post code.

Forgot to mention, I'm looking at the new 1.8TSI Ibiza Cupra Black and 280/290 Leon

Thanks for the reply robin - I know, it's really annoying

That's so cheap, I'm wishing my life away for cheap insurance!

Of course, only engine which will lower the insurance is the 1.4TSI ACT, get quoted £850 for one of those. The only variant I'd get one in is the full styling kit (spoiler, skirts, splitter and twin exhaust) - They only seem to have brought this out as an option on MY16 models so prices are sky high still

Im 21, My 2014 Leon FR 1.4 with the kit costs ~£700, I managed to get one of the lease deals on a 290 Black DSG, which will cost me ~£1000, which seems pretty reasonable in comparison!

Have to say the back end of my current Leon looks better than the Cupra, but I'm sure the Cupra will more than make up for it when it arrives ;)

I haven't seen any 14 plates with the full kit, that's good to hear though - How much do you/did you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Ahh very nice mate, £1000 deposit yeah? And it's so annoying because I can afford it but can't justify 2.2k a year for insurance, just gunna have to wait a few more years I suppose

That really is crazy for young drivers..

I'm 28 with 10 years NCB on one policy and 9 on another, my Cupra 290 costs £400 a year full comp. I don't see how they can justify £2,200 for 12 months!

I got it for £14k, with a good part ex. It seemed a good deal, the dealer didn't seem to realise the kit was all optional, but obviously there are very few others with the kit to compare that price to!

The lease deal I got was with CVL, I went with a big wedge upfront as it made the total cost a few hundred quid cheaper over the term. £6306 over the two years :funk:

Ah that's good to hear, I suppose I'll just have to start looking deeper. Looking for one with under 20k miles in white/grey/black. And yeah I'm gunna do similar, willing to put down 10-12k cash so if I'm lucky I won't have to pay much more in finance

I'm 21, Cupra 280 DSG with a tuning box, a load of aesthetic mods, 4 years no claims and I pay £850 with Adrian flux. Admiral wanted the same money but I couldn't tune it with them and mods weren't covered whereas they all are with AF.

I moved from admiral to adrian flux for the same reasons
