Hi All

About to buy a new filter and went to have a practise removal of the paper filter. Now, I removed the two black screws at the back and hoped that was it but the intake/MAF pipe was still appeared to be attached. I was to nervouse about taking it all apart. Any advise/pics on opening the airbox. Or is it just the two scews and I need to use a bit more force to lift.

P.S. it's a 55 Cupra R.

Before the Search Police start. I have searched ;-)

The top of the airbox doesn't come completely off. Take out the two screws and unhook the front of the airbox from the plastic lugs. You should be able to angle it up enough to get the filter out.

If you undo the jubilee clip that holds the TIP to the MAF and pull the TIP off first it will be a lot easyer

Unscrew the two screws (Yellow)

Pull the cover up and push away from you at the same time, those red lines are where the tabs are holding the non-screw side down.

Hope this helps....

the pipe comes from the airbox, sucked in through the sai pump, it whines on start up, then to the kombi valve on its way to the cat....

When engine is cold extra air is added to the extra rich exhaust gases to clean them and the process helps get the cat up to temp quicker.

The actual pump blows cold air and I can't see how blowing cold air into a hot exhaust helps it warm up quicker but I'm not going to argue with you two :cartman:
