I'm not 100% sure on the compenents of our Air con systems, but i'd assume there will be a compressor in the system, ususally its belt driven and attatched to the engine... This could be your problem?

cheers m8 ill look into that, ive read that there is a module that controls the fans ,aircon and secoundary waterpump can anybody confirm this because my waterpump is also not working but i thought it was a seperate problem .I have shareware vag com but i cant work out how to scan air con components ??

you can....
1)get it smoke tested for leaks
2)check the pump
3) my favourite option, rip it out :D

well when i had a small aircon problem no power was getting to my compressor... and the revs did not drop when i turned the A/C button on. which makes me think it may not be the compressor as you said when u switch ur A/C on ur revs drop.. get it checked by someone?

Take it to a ac specialist, my money would be on the condenser tbh (£300)

OK have read above thread and a couple of others. Air con has never worked since i had car.
Have had it re-gassed, no joy, my fuse on top of battery was melted so i replaced and cleaned unit.
When i turn AC on the engine note changes so compressor/pump IS kicking in but still does'nt cool?
Have inspected pipes that i can see and looks ok, any ideas peeps?
