as above air mass meter keep breaking, been through 3 in last 2 weeks, they work for a few miles then car starts over fueling and spluttering, disconnect the maf and then car runs fine so i know it is the maf as if i plug it back in itl run ruff again

filter maybe dirty or damp?

any thing else i can check for?

also they are all bosch parts

mafs can be fairly fragile maybe try and move it away from the tip with abit of silicone hose to try and dampen some vibrations ? just a thought & worth a shot

no other fualts, i have vag com, its a gt30 so i have custom tip and filter

2 possible causes.....
fitment which is allowing vibrations to physically damage/break the hot film airmass sensor element..
other one, is excessive airflow for the size of airflow meter, which is driving the maf to its max output 5v output, which can kill the hybrid electronics inside it. A friend with a tuning business killed several on a BT car with massive airflow.. Larger sensor tube, rescaled, slowed the velocity down to the maf was'nt flat out trying to keep the sensor element heated, and the failures ceased.

just a thought.

what size maf sensor tube and what airflows/power are you running?

+1 on what Bill says. When you've eliminated every other cause, excess airflow is a likely candidate.

I probably hold the record round here for killing Mafs (10) :hide: I never did it with my rescaled BT application.

Excess airflow is a killer. My last sensor lasted 2 years, and mostly runs to 95% of full scale at max flow, in an rs4 tube and a gt30, but the cold temps two weeks ago killed it.
If the error you are getting is high airflow code, and the mafs reading full scale
Airflow, then you need a bigger tube.

If it's failing, low or no reading, then it's vibration, or dirt.

Dave. Your record has been broken. I'm easily past 10 now

It's in a 3 inch tube, ran fine it's just it's killing them all the time now and not throwing a fault code up, I'm going to change filter secure intake and go from there, costing me a fortune in mafs lol il leave it till after xmas now as it's just my toy and not daily drive

mapper did a great job, like i said its been fine for over 3 years, been to santa pod many times, around tracks and all sorts.

must eitha be weather, or my filter is dragging in moist air? or is shitted up with gunk
