Noticed the other day that both wiring under the seats for the side airbags have been cut.

Just wondering which wore goes to which so I can sort it. Obviously brown goes to brown, do the other two go to a specific wire or not?

Strange how so little can say so much.lol but to be fair I can relate to big johns post! All sorted now, but it was hard on the pocket to get it sorted! With regards to the original post, airbag light should defo be on, im not sure if the light itself can be removed or a fuse removed to turn it off! Does the light come on when you turn the key to the first position before starting the engine?

Common problem with the leon's is the yellow connector under the seat first fix when investigating wiring issues is to cut the connector out and hard wire the 3 wires together.

I cant remember which ones go where though as I've seen multiple varations of colours white to black blue to blue yellow to blue etc all depends on the MY as to what colour wiring was used.

Yes the light is on.

When I originally bought it no lights where on and then had some problems regarding warning lights on the dash and a few faults coming up. Turned out to be a loose connection behind clocks.

Just before sorting said connection out I noticed the wires. Anyways the light is on and the fault is something like drivers side airbag ignitor short to ground.

I've searched for diagrams and such but can't seem to find a definate way to connect them. I know about cutting the plugs out and hardwiring them in.

It's a 2003 cupra R.

Believe me the car looked very good when I bought it. No obvious problems. Unfortunately for me it wasn't looked after as well as I hoped by that previous owner although it has been at some point.

Lucky enough I do look after my cars and is now getting treat right.

Its a bit suspect, the airbag wires were cut and the connections behind the dash had a bad connection! id say probably the connection that illuminates the airbag light among others! I'm no good when it comes to electrical problems, but id say the yellow connectors can probably be purchased somewhere, just a matter of out with the old in with the new! Hopefully someone will be able to help you! Not a nice situation to be in, especially something as temperamental as the airbag system! Hope you get it sorted mate!

It's strange why is doesn't come up saying a fault with the passenger side too. When looking the connections on passenger side are all wrapped up so maybe they bodged it but either way my side airbags arnt hooked up which I dont like.

Once I know the correct way to wire up I'll hard wire them in no problem, just figuring it out. Might see If Dave at sere can look up the wiring for me.

Brown - Brown

Blue - Green

Black - White

Does those colours coincide with what you have?

Make sure ignition is off and battery disconnected before you touch anything!!! For obvious reasons!

Also if these colours are the same as you have and you decide to give it a go and something goes wrong dont blame me!lol

As far as I'm aware, the colours are slightly different from drivers to passengers side

Unless the connectors were already as they were coming from the factory its very hard to know for sure! The colours differ as bouncer said from drivers to passenger side and probably from model to model! What I posted above came from another vw forum, mk5 gti golf! Info is hard to get, probably because nobody wants to be responsible for something which could potentially harm someone! Or cost a packet to fix if something goes wrong!

They are different from passenger to drivers Did a repair on these on an 09 plate I believe and passenger was brown brown blue blue black white drivers was yellow blue brown brown black white others have been different without the connector you need an accurate wiring diagram for the exact MY as there are so many variations.

Just been out for a further look at the loom on the car side, as before I've only seen the seat wiring.

Both side has had a resistor put in place, just on the drivers side it has snapped which is why I guess it's now showing a fault.

Drivers side colours is Brown white and green.

Passengers side is Brown white and blue.

Question is why have the seat airbags been by passed.

Id say, the previous owner has fitted aftermarket seats with no airbags in them! Need to bypass the system in order to stop the light from coming on! Or maybe the airbags and related components needed replaced because of failure or deployment!cough cough!lol only kiddin!

To be honest one thing I suspect is that it might of had a front smash at some point but all was fine on a car check before I got it. But that's another story for another day. Wouldn't the side airbags I my deploy if hit on the side.

Maybe some different seats have been fitted or the internal components have failed or maybe the plugs where shot and firing faults out.

Need to connect the wires back up and see.
