Hi all

Firstly, please dont think I am trying to be patronising, but I have a tip for those who are looking for a code for the Alana radio.

A lot of forums I have read mention a card that should be in with the owner's manual or the radio manual. My recently purchased Ibiza didnt have one. However, on the front page of the stereo manual, there is a space for the code on the bottom right, but it had been cut out with scissors in mine.

I thought, maybe, if on the off chance the code was written by hand and in a suitably stiff-nibbed pen, there would be indentations on the following page.... a quick rubbing with a drawing pencil revealed the code! Bingo!

So the tip is, check page 2 of the manual if you have it, it might just be that you are lucky.

Now I'm trying to decide between keeping my Alana head unit or putting the new Sony in that I recently bought (before my discovery :censored:)

Don't know what it is but there's something I like about the fit/appearance of the Alana, the matching red display, and that ingenious security feature where you can pop the circular control panel out. I may miss the iphone compatibility of the Sony though :)

Cheers

Thanks guys :D

Yeah Chris, no luck for me on that one.

So what are people's view on the Alana, have you kept yours in place?

I like the fit and red illumination like you,i liked it that much i bought a mp3 version of the Alana from ebay as all i was missing really was the ability to play mp3 discs.

I have tried a couple of other head units but ended up going back to the Alana as its fine for my needs and i like the original look.

I got rid of mine. My alpine sounds better, has proper ipod connectivity, pre-outs for the amplifier and has a more useful screen.
Oh, and the buttons light up red too!

Changed my Alana for an alpine units purely for the iPod connectivity but all in all I don't think they're a bad unit for standard

Yeah I like the original fit/look of the alana. It seems to get better radio reception than the Sony I put in temporarily too (and I had fitted an amplifier for the aerial).

I've no doubt that there are better head units, and ipod/iphone compatibility is a bonus. For me though, I will stick with the Alana on principle after my code discovery :D

Utter crap in my opinion, was the first thing to get changed on my car. Clarion cx609 double din with illumination set to emotion red replaced it and looks pretty damned close to factory.

Yeah I have seen some double din fits which do look great and I think you can achieve that factory fitted look that way.
