Hello.

Strange thing happened this morning.
Got woken up at 5:00am by my car alarm going off. I only heard it the second time.
I went out, unlocked then locked my car, then went back to bed.

The moment i got in bed, the :censored: went off again... so out i got. Had to leave it unlocked in the end.

Anyhoo, I drove to work as usual, (with my lights on) and parked. As i turned my lights off, it was only then the boot warning light came on

I got out, checked my boot/reshut it. It was still on. I turned the lights on, and the light went off. Then i turned them off again to go in and the boot warning light came on again and is still on now.

I've never heard of anything like this before.
Any advice/knowledge will be much appreciated because i can't leave my car unlocked for ever.

I would have said dodgy boot sensor (thinks the boot is being opened when you car is locked) but strange one with the lights effecting it.

Ah, yh i'll have to try it. But im sure the boot stays locked while the doors are locked.

Im leaving work in a min, so i'll find out. Cheers.

Yeah I meant like when all your doors/boot are locked, the alarm went off. The boot light is on. so it's as if the boot sensors circuit has been broken (boot not shut) with the car locked > setting off the alarm.

I had the exact same problem on my Leon. Even the problem with the lights. Drove me up the wall for 3 days. In the end turned out to be the boot sensor. Just check the connection on it. I just checked mine over and it was fine.

Where about is the boot sensor?

Oh sorry, yeah, the alarm goes off when the cars locked, however, i ment the Boot warning light on the dash not the light in the boot...

Im rubbish at explaing things ha.

I slammed shut my boot today, and loocked the car, and so far, no alarm... But no doubt that will change the moment i get into bed later haha.

mine had a faulty boot lock caused by a leaking rear wash wipe.... managed to get it repaitred under warranty.

My first Leon had a faulty lock. Never could lock it, i always had to park stupidly close to walls so noone could get into it ;)

*+*+* UPDATE *+*+*

I opened my boot to investigate/clean the lock and gave it a good slam shut.
The warning light is now off and the alarm is yet to go off. Having said that, i darent open it again now

Hi mate,

Don't suppose you had any luck finding what the problem was did you? I'm going through the exact same problem at the minute and can't leave it unlocked all the time.

Garage say they've checked the boot sensor but that's fine, just didn't know if you had sorted your situation out?

yep had the same problem, mine was the rear washer copper pipe breaking and the water was filling the boot lock. have a look in the spare wheel comp and see if there is any water in there and around the lock.

Yeh mate, Exactly what Stubee said.
Pain in the bum, but worth resolving.

had exact same thing but mine was not the lock. mine was 3 wireing plugs in the n\s\r under the panel next to the parcel shelf all three plugs had corrosion ,split them terminal cleaned them and then put some terminal grease in job jobbed . the only way i could tell the pipe had a leak was every one who sat in the n\s\r seat said the seat belt was wet

Makes Sense. Worth a look anyway. I've heard of wet foot wells but not seat belts

I've just had something similar to this. The boot warning light came on while driving. I used the rear washer and noticed water in the boot lock. Is there a guide on here that can help me fix it?

Im praying the alarm wont go off tonight!

i just glued the 2 holes in the plastic and it sorted it lol, will get round to buyin a new one one day :banned:

My boot light has just come on also, as well as the alarm. I think it is the boot lock not locking properly. With the boot open you can close the latch twice with your finger, the first latch does not turn the light on the dash off, but keep pressing and it latches a second time, then it should go off, but my light on the dash flickers.

Also my rear wiper washer does not work, just wondering if this could cause the problem also after reading your posts.

Does anyone know if the boot locks are easy to get to and change please?

my boot light is on on the dash but when i lock the car the boot locks also. and when i shut the boot the light in the boot goes out cause i put my seat down to check but the light on the dash stays on.

Sounds like the same problem as mine, your lock isn't quite making, the boot sounds like it is locking, the light goes out but the latch is intermittent and isn't latching far enough to keep the light on the dash off, is your alarm going off also?

Had a look at mine today and the pipe for the rear wiper washer was hanging off, so water was covering the boot lock and the electrical connector causing my boot light to flicker. The alarm thought the boot was open so set itself off. All dried out now and no problems!
