Cv boot replacement but cant get the outer head off

I have tried everything in my power to get the head off so i can fit a new boot onto the cv joint but i dont know how to actually do it, i tried the most common ways but nothing is moving it. How do i get the outer head off???!?

If I remember right, there is a retaining clip.
