Hi people, i've been trying to fit an Alpine 9831R into my Ibiza FR... but.... for the life of me i cannot do it. I can put all the cables in etc ok and everything works, its just that the stereo will not go back into the DIN sized slot. Any ideas how others have some how managed?, i cant even get the headunit cage in the slot!!, i can put it in fine without the cage but obviously its loose and will move backwards and forwards when i accelerate and brake.... I need help

Mine went in fine, did you remove the bolt (covered with the rubber sleeve) from the standard headunit and fit it to the Alpine - it locates the rear of the stereo to the dashboard.

My cage slotted straight into the DIN slot and feels very secure with the tabs out.

Just out of interest, how did you wire it in? I have to turn mine on & off manually which is a bit of a pain, but I'm not sure which power leads to tap into for the ignition switch

Good luck

I just used the supplied adapter and plugged them straight in, it turns off as soon as i remove my key from the ignition and back on when i insert. How does the bolt help with the install tho?, i must admit i didnt try this, mite go and do it now actually.

It´s a really hard works.

It take me 2 hours to install perfect. I used adaptor too.

Introduce you hand in the bottom of the slot, and try to find what is the problem and tray to find a way to pass the cables.

You need to switch the “Switched Live” and “Permanente Live” on the loom between the ISO block and the back of the stereo. It’s a Seat quirk, have a search.

Got it sorted in the end, i think the cage for the alpine was slightly bent in places, all sorted now and looking very good, however i dont like not being able to use the steering wheel controls!, so not that impressed!!! Must be someone who can make an adapter.

Cheers, I thought I had done that but maybe I'd swapped them round looked away and swapped them back again

Ib1 >> Is that the 9835 in that pic? Mine's a 9853 with the slide bar which can be a pain in the ar5e sometimes...think there's probably some steering button adaptors on ebay but there ain't any buttons on Cupra steering wheels so I've not really paid attention. Nice to see you also have the annoying gap at the bottom of the HU between it & the useless dash box

Aaron >> The bolt stops the unti from moving forward under braking & helps to space it..

is that an import alpine as it looks like it has a XM radio button like they do in the USA for XM radio?
