My Altea battery has an intermittent drain issue, I’ve investigated door lock, driver and passenger replaced, for a while it worked only if you pressed interior lock button and then got out and locked driver’s door with key fob , thought it was cured but it’s back, might not have been the problem, at all, the fact that it’s intermittent lead me to think otherwise, my alarm buzzer is silent for quite a while, is it in the engine bay and getting wet and shorting or perhaps the power steer electrical getting wet , these have been suggested to me, anyone have any knowledge of these problems please help, trying to keep my almost 17 years old Altea out of breakers yard

Best thing for you to do is look online for a decent vw specialist and have them do some tests. Before booking in with anyone you need to talk to the garage and see if they confident about doing the job. Find someone who is confident and can talk you threw the diag process before booking in. Otherwise your gonna end up getting stung money wise. Use google to find a garage.
Spoke to a very honest auto spark today who mainly deals with starters alternators etc , he said he’d be reluctant to take it on, he’s extremely busy and there are too many variables with can bus, gone are the days of checking with multimeters, he pointed me to a specialist who uses thermal heat cameras to see which fuse is heating during switch off, ie drawing current, ingenious I thought and narrows the search area, have it booked with but not till 11 March, so fingers crossed, thanks

I’ve got a similar thing, battery drain.
The driver’s door will lock remotely but not unlock. A couple times I’ve seen that the hazards are flashing way after I locked the car, like the alarm is going off but with no siren.

ive got same problem as you have.its a 11.plate altea..did you have any joy with a fix. mines goes flat after a couple days off not using it. i disconect the battery every night. thanks for any heip.
