Hi all! Thinking about trading my mk1 leon FR in for a altea FR TFSI DSG "57" with 27,000 on it. Just wondered what your thoughts were on them? And especially the DSG boxes?? Heard good reviews and some bad..

Will appreciate the advice :)

I've driven a DSG once on a test drive at my local VW, and didn't get it. Service / oil & filter change every 40k miles and the DSG might survive a reasonable length of time, but I've heard of many issues with the boxes failing.

I liked the Altea I had though (2.0ltr TDI Sport) but when I sold it and got back into a VW I realised the acres of plastic and low budget trim were really tacky. I don't think I'd ever go back to the Altea, rather go for a Touran I think. But ours never really went wrong, and we took it up to 140k miles with no real issues other than the wipers packed up once and the inlet manifold flap failed just like every other diesel one.

now that is a low mileage so give it a good test drive and make sure the turbo vanes havnt got stuck ( like my one had ) and stick the dsg in sport mode & all the other options too

tbh i love the dsg box as yet i havent done 40 000 miles so its not had an oil change
