Yes mate. By the sounds of it your best bet would be the resonated system from milltek.

i can vouch for the milltek resonated system.

when i had my LCR it had a cat back resonated milltek and it sounded much like the standard system.

even when i did the custom 3" downpipe and decat, the exhaust was still quiet, only when you had your foot to the floor did it sound like a different beast. Was the perfect combination for everyday driving, no horrible cabin drone at 70mph and i used to do a 180mile round trip on the M8 every 2 weeks.
Defo sounds like what your looking for if you want to keep it OEM sounding and now that they do the OEM style oval tailpipe, it'll look OEM too :)

Wee bit on the dogbone mount for you:
Reduces front to back engine movement by a massive amount.... this in turn reduces the amount of wheel hop on hard lauches, therefore allowing greater traction.

When i fitted mine the difference was like night and day...... the bush on my OEM dogbone mount was totally FUBAR though, i was getting a lot of funky noises when i was driving the car with the excess engine movement. You can choose to either fit an upgraded polybush or replace the whole mount itself. I went for the cheaper option of just changing the bush. It cost me all of £18 and it took me half an hour to fit it myself :)

Well what a week.

There's no way of sugar coating it so I'll come straight out with it.

On the way back to the ferry last Wednesday the oil pressure light came on and within 10-15 seconds the engine had cut out and I coasted to the side of the motorway. Towed back to the nearest seat dealer in Abbeville, about 70 miles south of Calais, first thoughts are engine seized. :cry:

I left it with them to look at over the weekend and came back to the UK. They're going to have a quote ready for me tomorrow. Gutted doesn't even come close!

I've been in touch with my local dealer and they've put a worst case estimate at 3500-4000 as they don't know any details. I'm getting the garage in France to email specifics to my local dealer so they can then amend the estimate accordingly.

I've done a bit of reading on here about engine seizures and none of it makes for enjoyable reading! My heart tells me to get it fixed whatever the cost. I'd rather pay and have something to show for it than have to pay off a loan for a car I don't have plus buy a rust bucket until its paid off.

Does anyone have any experience with a seized BAM engine? Or French garages for that matter? Another option is that I stick it on a trailer and bring it back to the UK to either fix or sell. I haven't thought much about selling/breaking until I can count out fixing it but I've heard of a guy on here who breaks LCR's? If someone knows who that is so I can get in touch if need be that would be helpful.

I can't really give much detail on the state of the internals. I did see in the garage they jacked it up, stuck it in gear and turned the front wheel by hand. It would spin for half a rotation then stop dead like it was obstructed in some way. Also the oil level was fine. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow and keep you guys informed.

Ak, I've spotted your yellow cupra a few times in town. It seems like that's where you keep it so I wont say whereabouts :)
 
thats a total bummer mate........

sounds like you have maybe had oil pick up problems if the oil level is fine.
the oil pick up pipes are bad for blocking and starving your engine of oil.

it happened to one of my mates so at the 1st oppourtunity i dropped the sump on mine when i had it, removed the pipe off mine and it was almost fully blocked. i reckon i had just got there in time before i would've had the same issue as yourself.

can't really comment on french garages, if it was me i've be having the car recovered to the uk to be worked on, then go all out and have the engine full forged.

The French garage wanted 10'000 euros! :-o I think not!

I'm going to pick it up on Thursday and bring it back. I reckon they didn't want to deal with it. Hoping either I'd pick it up or pay the 10'000. Win/Win for them.

What is it that blocks the pick up pipe? Does that mean the oil filter hasn't been doing its job?

sounds like they are trying to bend you over the bonnet and screw you silly.

main cause for oil pick up pipes blocking is a poorly maintained engine. Oil starts to break down and go sludgey over time if the engine isn't serviced regularly, thus blocking the oil strainer on the pick up line over time until oil starvation is imminent

sure i remember reading about it on here somewhere, try using the search engine on here and you'll unearth a heap of info.

where abouts is it you are from??? Might be worth getting one of the VAG tnuning specialists like badger5 or ***** take a look if they are local to you

I have had a look at reconditioned engines and asked for a few quotes. Also looked at used engines with the same amount of miles has mine although I'd prefer not to go down that route.

I'll wait to see what garage says at the end of the week. Then decide what to do next.

The car has had two oil changes since I bought it in December. I imagine the pipe must have been fairly blocked by then already. It's the car I've looked after more than any and this happens! After umming and ahhing I'm pretty certain I'll get it fixed whatever the cost. Breaking it would also break my heart. I got this car for a reason, I've wanted one for years.

I'll message Badger5 although he's quite a way away, I'm in Wiltshire. Would be ideal if I could get forged parts while I've got the chance.

A bit of phoning around and rebuilds seem to be anywhere between 1200 and 2500. cheaper than dealer and with the option for upgrading rods etc while ive got the chance as I imagine dealer won't touch non-OEM parts?
