android auto/speedometer google maps on headunit

Hi all .When I'm using android auto/google maps on the phone the speedometer is there but when using on the headunit is not there. From settings the speedometer is on .Any idea why is not displayed ??? . Is about the resolution of the headunit display? Maybe is the headunit software ? . It is a mib2 with SW MU version 0252 ,car is 65 plate.Thank you.

I think this is due to the Android auto version of maps which depending on the location could be disabled by default, see articles similar to https://www.autoevolution.com/news/...ysterious-feature-everybody-loves-155329.html for more information.

Hi. Thank you for the link .I already checked this link. The problem is like now I choose one destiantion on maps/android auto and the speedometer is there. If I'm doing the same thing but connected to headunit the speedometer is not there.

I know it’s not ideal but if you use another maps (like Waze https://support.google.com/waze/answer/6386895?hl=en#zippy=,customize-alerts-on-android-auto) do you get the speedometer on Android Auto?

It is the same ....speedometer on the phone with android auto but not on headunit with android auto.

Not sure if this is any help but from what I can see it appears a bit hit and miss and I'm not sure if they have seperate settings for Smartphone only vs via Android Auto.

You need to turn on the speedometer in the maps app settings, not in Android Auto which was counter intuitive to where I thought it was. In our version of Android, in maps, go to settings, Navigation Settings, and near the bottom in driving options you can turn the speedometer on or off.

Sometimes it only works when I’m using a route, not sure why it doesn’t show all the time…

Good luck and will be interesting to see if there is a hidden setting or something similar.
