So i've had issues with android auto since i got my 2020 mark 4 leon in january. Mainly one of the bug bears i had was not being able to get google maps to activate other than randomly and very very infrequently. I've had the car back to the seat dealer and they did a hard reset as software was up to date. I had to travel somewhere localish yesterday and i decided to use google maps on my phone rather than the irritating and useless built in sat nav. So i loaded the route on my phone before starting the engine and lo and behold, google maps on my screen when i did! I have tried this a few times since then and it works everytime so far! If i dont activate google maps its just not there. When i had a 2023 arona as a courtesy car, it just worked as soon as the phone connected to the system. Everytime. Im going to continue to chase this while the car is still under warranty but i may have sussed this out for now! Hope this helps someone else having similar issues.

That sounds more like a permissions issue on your phone, where the car isn't being allowed to open the app.

I had the same with Spotify, if I opened it on the phone first it was fine but if I tried from the car screen it gave a failure. Can't recall if it was the app or Android Auto I had to adjust, but certain phone models have default restrictions for security.

I have a feeling you may be right. If i go into android auto on my phone the map icon is there but there is no check box. I've been through the maps app on my phone but can'tbseem to find a way to give permission. I'm getting closer. This time last week i was ready to put a brick through it.
