Please be gentle with me as this is my first post. and I have jumped ship to cupra.. this is only my opinion, but why do members use android autos or carplay? for what reason I just don't understand i'm 70 and not technically minded but the only reason for using them is google maps or is it for whatsapp or spotify .. so please what's the reason for using android auto or carplay.

thanks James.. my son set-up android auto, on my last car and within half an hour of using it, I phoned him up and told him to remove it .. why because I couldn't receive email notifications plus read them and the same with text messages so personally I'll use the in built apps etc

I can explain my own reasons:

First of all, the car's built-in navigation software isn't as user friendly, easy-to-use and intuitive as Google Maps.
Searching for places or addresses on it mostly end up in disappointment.
Google Maps also tends to be more up-to-date than the built-in maps, with all the changes in POI's, roads and speed limits.
Another important thing is that (I don't know about other countries) in my country built-in navigation does not have live traffic info but Google Maps does, because it is able to collect data from all other Google Maps users driving on the same roads as you.
For all of these reasons, Google Maps is superior to the built-in navigation and this alone is enough reason to use Android Auto for me.

On top of that, it integrates Spotify seamlessly, with the car's audio systems, controls and displays.
This is the icing on the cake, I would say.

Thank you very much and as for Google Maps, I totally agree with you, it's Android Auto, i personally don't see the point of using it just for Google Maps and Spotify, which by the way I'm not paying £13 month but at the end of the day, it's each to their own .. all the best, and thank you for taking the time to reply.
