So I Should Be Getting More Speed Not Less Top End???? Am I Right??? Can You Think Of Anything That Could Cause Car To Go Slower???

Sounds like you could be using the "heavy" nuts.. !!

I put heavy nuts in and I lost 10mph.. I'd review your nuts before checking brakes !!!

Just take one or two out and you'll go alot faster

do you mean wheel nuts???? How would this make a difference ??? I used the same nuts that where on car as standard(1s with standard mk3 hub cap steels) Not only have a lost speed but acceleration is stupidly slow but that not a biggie the issue to me is top speed

Anyways fitted alloys today look real nice on car but i might take them off as i used to get 115mph from car now i can barely get 95mph it really p!ssing me off cause i like to do a stedy 100mph on motoway and now i cnt even do 95mph this is with me and my girl in car.

ANy ideas??????

You'll probably find that the bigger wheels and tyres will be having an effect on your speedo, depending what profile the tyres are will have a great effect on what speed shows up as you drive along.

Did you check the profile ratings before you bought them to try and get the best match to your pevious wheels in overall diameter??

Yeh, Id say its the hevey nut situation take the rears off and you`ll be going so much faster that the rear wheels will overtake the front!

So what take the wheel nuts off ??? what should i put on supa dupa are you about??? could u have a quick look for me PLEASE

What you need to do is take all the nuts off give them a good clean to clean all the excess grime of which is making them 'hevey', then you should restore your full proformance! :D ive never had to do this as i clean my car once a week so cannot be held responsible for loss of life :)

David.

also it could be the breaks sticking so what i would do is take the brakes off and open the doors when you are slowing down and use them as air brakes! ;)

just do the fred flinston approach - use the heels of your feet - lol

BUt how could dirt affect the nuts????? i dont understand that at all? also could someone explains how the wheel nuts affect the topspeed im new to this car thing so all help is needed, lol

Also i cnt see why the nuts when they used to be on the steels with hubcaps used to get car to 110mph

Use this:
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

Enter your old wheel and tyre size, then your new wheel and tyre size, just below the picture of the tyre sizes, it will tell you, how the sizing has affected your top speed.
As posted previously, your speed probably hasn't changed much, its just your speedo is misreading, due to the change for example from 14inch wheels to 17inch wheels, the rolling circumference will have changed.

this has got to be the funnest thing ive read ever! he must be playing along no1 can really be this stupid! can they?

come on supa give me sum help mate, lol

also got car booked in with that guy in rosehill charging me 170incl paint for scratch

As Forbez says use that mate, Have you noticed a drop in proformance? or is it notcible on the speedo?

It must have been quite a bad scratch for 170? should have got the paint yourself mate would have saved you some pennies to, did you find it ok? did you see the blue subaru wrx at the top of the road? he wants to swap that for my cupra! NO CHANCE!
