Hi guys, after obtaining my refund I'm on the look out for a new car again. Obviously been looking at Leon's again but saw a nice Octavia VRs in red the other day and now unsure?! Anyone got experience with an VRs?

It will be similar mechanically. I guess the question is do u need the extra space that the octavia offers?
Personally I like them and it would be something different for u I suppose

I'd buy another Skoda tomorrow, in fact if the Leon got written off tomorrow I'd probably go back to a vRS.

Early Mk2 vRS were still PD like the Leon, and not til 09/59ish did they goto the CR engine.

If you don't do many miles the the petrol turbo models are worthless !!!

I had a Mk1 Octy vRS and loved it, Mk1 Fabia vRS and loved it !!!! I've got no problem with the branding either lol

Speed blue Octs look nice, estates can look great - Eibach have even brought out uprated springs and roll bars for the estate version to cope with the heavier weights when used by the emergency services !

Andy

Octavia vrs im debating changing my ibiza for one end of the year and at the moment im going for the estate they look great and even better in blue

I'm just a bit concerned that the VRs saloon weighs around 70kg+ more than the Leon. Surely this must effect handling and performance?! Reason being whatever my next car is it will visit Donington this summer so wondering whether it would be too big?!

If ur only going on track for a bit of fun and the car is primarily a daily drive I wouldn't worry. U will have fun on track whatever car ur in.
Besides 70kg is probably the weight of a passenger n im sure most people dont notice a huge performance difference with or without one.

We had a 10 plate vRS brilliant car apart from the rear end noise which appeared after 18k miles, sounded like a bearing but they were fine!! Noise was peeing us off so we traded it in for a new Q5.

It must be said that I hear almost nothing but positive things about the Octi vRSs.
I think they look quite smart and I'd happily have either the petrol turbo or CR170 again.
Lots of kit for your cash too

Too bad I still think the btcc leon looks better :)

Yeah I know performance wise they are very similar as same tfsi engine, its just the handling and extra size that worry me a little...I know it's not much extra weight but someone once told me losing 6kg equals same as gaining 1bhp ;)

Did u never find the fault?

I have a facelift octavia vrs (2010) locve it, front end looks mean but sides and rear bumper are bland, so styling wise there is not much out there for them, and I'm yet to see one modded exterior wise that looks nice, I like mine but I'm still debating wether to trade it in somepoint this year as its as much use in the snow as a car with no wheels, and that's even just using the clutch

Fancy quattro again but no idea :/

Can't be as bad as the BMW 330 I had! Shocking in the snow lol...guessing you were on standard road tyres? Agreed the side and rear are the muted design of the car. Have to say tho I thought the octavia felt very planted on the road. Had more feel than my Leon had tbh

Don't know what to do if honest?! Loved my Leon but do fancy a change and the skoda would be a bit different. Longer wheel bases normally help with handling i.e. touring cars etc

Love mine, get lots of comments about its smart looks

It's like a grown up hot hatch

Just a shame the Mk3 Octy is that much bigger again

I drive an Octavia VRS tdi dsg at work and get to put it through its paces. For a large car I reallyllike it. I'd have one.
