Another Water Pump Gone.

Hi guys went out in car this morning and water pump has gone I think. Temp goes up as driving and down when I stop.

What I really want to know is have the Seat parts been improved eg metal not plastic or should I look for a different make of replacement part?

Cheers Andy

Problem sounds a weird one. As for the pump I think they have improved but they still are plastic. You can get metal ones try GSF although i had head when these let go the problem is even worse although they may last longer. Might be worth going original and changing every 30-40k

could be the thermostat? does the car overheat? as if the thermostat was stuck open you would get the temperature moving but it wouldn't overheat and shouldn't go over 90

Well thought it would be pump thermostat would have to be stuck closed, I think its water pump as the more load its under the quicker the temp goes up it left at idle temp takes a while to creep up then fans cut in and cool.

Thanks for thoughts on pump as well I think I will stick to the oem pump

cheers Andy

It will be the pump, if it was the thermostat the over heating would be constant. I had this problem last month and it was a pain in the t*ts. Can you drive the car at low revs without the temp going up and then put your foot down and the temp goes up almost instantly?

Yep low revs all good. Temp almost goes up as quick as the revs. Well I will take it to work tomorrow and stick my bike in the back get the parts tomorrow fix it on tuesday. I am lucky enough to work at a big Ford dealership so have about 25 mechanics to help me out.

Thanks for all your help guys.
