It's either fuel, timing or boost cut.

Could even be something as silly as the oil pickup pipe being partially blocked meaning the timing can advance (if it has VVT).

Oh I hope it ain't the pickup that killed my audi, oil starvation to the top of the engine = lots of smoke and a dead audi !!

I really think it's fuel as when parked up if you just rev the car to 2k revs you can feel it change like it's struggling ever so slightly, so in theory that should rule out boost cut. Although should have said when mentioning prob to you, when it hesitates you can also hear it dump ??

Try a coolant temp sensor Bree. Mine used to hesitate when pulling away from junctions ever since I bought it about 8 months ago. Replaced the coolant temp sensor the other day and seems spot on so far. Febi sensor cost me £6 nice very cheap very easy fix. Hope this helps

Hi guys,

Well just done the lower 4 injector rings. The top 4 looked just as good as the new ones. It has not helped the issue. My mpg is suffering currently 20mpg. But last week the car was struggling to reach and hold 90 degrees. I replaced the CTS and it did not help, so I'm assuming then l have a sticky thermostat ?? If this is stuck open the car would always be running rich ?? This would account for the bad mpg ??

Really want to solve this issue, it's really putting me off the car :(

Not the stat prob the hesitation. The stat I'll sort when I find a guide lol
Cheers guys

Hi mate, if struggling to get to 90C then yes your stat is stuck open and yes it will cause poor mpg for the reason you said.
As for the other issue are you 100% sure that you haven't got another split pipe somewhere as a lot of hesitation issues are caused by that. If so then i would replace the stat first and see if that makes a difference to the hesitation as some people on here have reported that to be the case, i guess maybe because of the over rich mixture if the engine is constantly too cold.
The temp gauge is fairly inaccurate, even when it says 90C it is often only 77/78C when the stat is stuck open like yours is

I'm not 100% mate as I can not find anyone to do a smoke test for me...

I'll replace that stat, good advice ;)

Would be a miracle if it fixed it lok

yeah i'd be very surprised too tbh, you wouldn't think it could affect it that much but other people seem to say that it's cured the problem when they've changed it. Hope you get it sorted and yeah i understand what you mean about the smoke test, can be very hard to find a small split etc without one.

If none of the above solves your issues, take the throttle body off and clean it (theres a guide on here somewhere) i had the same symptoms as you've described. Replaced pretty much everything like you have and finally (well 170miles on) i THINK i fixed the problem, the TB was really dirty.. got it gleaming stuck it back on realigned through VAGCOM and jobs a good un

Good luck

Good advice but ONLY do this if you have access to VAGCOM to reset it properly mate! Needs to be reset properly or it will cause serious running issues :)

True you do need to realign it, BUT.. i forgot my laptop and had to drive home with it realigned and it ran as smooth as silk, as long as your gentle with cleaning it i dont believe you will encounter many issues but i would still advice against doing it until you can do a proper alignment

Cheers

Hey guys yeah having vcds is the only reason I have not fine that yet !! I have vcds lite, but it does not allow you to do TB resets :(
