Hey everyone is there any decent alternatives to these subscription platforms? Vcds is a bit expensive. Just looking to do some customisations.

Thanks

With OBD11 They now support ELM327 Dongle and I think (you will need to double check) you can use the one click apps so no subscription just having to buy credits for the things you want to do.

VCDS currently (as far as i know) does not support SFD (Only impacts you if you have a newer car ) Edit so you have to pay extra for Tokens to unlock it.

Nobody in the hobby world supports SFD2 yet So again you need to double check what you want to do and see if its possible and tell us what motor / year

It's a 2014 Leon.

Would like to do needle sweep, parking sensor display, have the rear lights running during the day also, I've seen coming home/leaving home lights options with carista, not sure if that'll work the way i want. I've seen with obd eleven and vcds you can link that to when the interior lights coming on and off.

I see the obd11 one click apps but dunno how much each one costs in terms of credits as it doesn't say

OK I will try and check on Thursday, afraid for some reason OBD11 decided to hide the prices unless you are connected to the car, in the old days the web site showed them.

You can use the Car scanner app for android. The Pro version costs as much as two bottles of Pepsi, and has capabilities comparable to obd11. What obd11 offers as paid "one click apps," car scanner offers for free.
I have personalized more than a dozen cars with this application, and there have never been any problems or surprises.
Here is the list of encodings in the application:

Car scanner is a good app been using it for while even before owning the Seat. I have used it to set daytime running rear lights, traffic reports and a few other things, the cost for a lifetime is a few quid, and you can run it on as many devices as you like for that cost.

You can make one or 2 changes on the free version to test it.

I can't comment on the software side of things as I mainly only use professional tools and software but my focus in this situation would be on ensuring you use good quality, reliable hardware so make sure you get a good dongle/interface/scan tool. This is where you should be focusing your research as there is plenty of information out there and different people will have different standards.

You don't want the tool failing mid-code/flash as that will likely brick the module you're working on.

I bought a second hand Autel MaxiPRO MP808-TS (about 400 euro, they are 1200 euro new) and I also have a knockoff VCDS cable. I use the Autel more than VCDS and I can also use it on other cars.

Well very sorry I went out to get the prices for you but afraid I currently have a Ultimate plan so all the apps come up as free which does not help you.

I did a bit of checking and I think with OBD11 if using the ELM327 Device then you can only get scanning and live data you cant use the OCA (although happy to be wrong).

Just one other option there are plenty of OBD scanners (some good some bad) maybe if you have a mate with a coding tool they can do the changes for you and just get the OBD scanner to keep an eye on DTC issues.
I personally use OBD11 for coding and DTC (Not all OBD scanners will check all control units, Torque Pro for building nice dashboards using live data.

Thanks so much for trying. That's very kind of you! :). I might give this car scanner app a shot others have mentioned.

Thanks for this. What cable or obd scanner do you use to connect the app? Is it like one click codings to do customisations like you get with carista or something else?

For Car Scanner best obd module is Vgate iCar Pro 2S. Very fast and stable.
Applications are solved differently than in Carista or obd11. You select the module you are interested in from the list (engine, transmission, lights, etc), open the options and get a list of what can be activated.
In the evening I can take screenshots of the app if you want.
