any paintwork experts out there?? help needed

can anyone help me. last friday in work sum one was spraying sum pipework and my car and a load of others got overspray on them

work will pay to have it removed, but apparently when it happend here before the product the company used 2 remove the overspray actualy damaged the paintwork of the car. And those people who had it done have never had the same finish shine on their cars paintwork still.

does any one know of the best product to use because i am very reluctant to let the company get it sorted. i have heard that clay bar is ment to be good does anyone have any views on this???

yes a clay bar could do the job...if not then it could be wet sanded ( using 2000 grit paper ) and then polished back up.

I could do it, but i doubt you're anywhere near me lol.

if you have never done it before then i'd pay someone to do it for you!! a local bodyshop could do it.

It will more than likely take a very small amount of the lacquer off, but it will remove the overspray, and once polished up you'll never know it was there.

Personally I would start with the least aggressive fix and work my way up. So maybe first try some tar and glue remover, then a clay bar, then maybe a polish if you're still not getting anywhere then think about maybe wetsanding or using a solvent. If you're not confident though get someone else in to do it for you.

If it is only a bit of spotting then a claybar might be quite successful.

i would just mop it up with a mop and a bottle of G3 Pro bodyshops could do it for u it may need flatting with 2000 wet and dry

i will try and post a pick of it on here as soon as pos. i got away with it qute lighttly compared with some of the boys i have only got a few spots here and there there aint realy that much on there you realy have to look to see it. the sprayers were pretty far away.

all the cars have only got little spots over them but some are worce than others.

im afraid i don't know what kind of paint it was.

As that rubbish bloke said Start with the very least agressive method, like tar & glue remover....its a wonder product sometimes....

I've been detailing for many years & using PC's & rotaries for at leats 3 of those, wet sanding is an area I poop myself thinkingabout, unless you have a paint thickness guage & know what your doing, STAY AWAY, it will end in tears.

If works going to pay, I'm sure you can be pointed towards a "proper" insured detailing company.

yer work will pay for them to be done because it was their fault. i live in Pembrokeshire South West Wales. there is no way wud i go near the car myselfe with any sort of sand paper, but would try the tar and glue remover or the claybar myselfe because i know care would be taken when doing it and i know it would be a propper job

The stupid thing is that something simmilar happend a few yers ago before i worked there and they oviously did nothing abbout the issue. the people who had it happen to them before all took their cars to a valet company that work payed fore. but they said the company polished the car so harsh that it dammaged the paintwork. i would say using savere T-cut with power tools or something. don't want to leave idiots like that loose on my car

I imagine last time they paid some muppet with a rotary to 'mop' the car with G3 compound at speed 6 and no idea what they were doing. They probably put holograms, marring and burnt the paint. I am trying to think of a pro detailer in your area or very good enthuisiast who may be able to help, but am struggling at the minute.. If work are paying point out that it is going to cost upwards of £250 for a proper job. If it only needs claying then thhey will be pleaed at the cheaper price, if it is a full machine polish then tell them to get their cheque book ready.

yer i think it will cost the company a lot of money, i mean as i say my car is one of the lucky ones there is onli a few spots on mine you realy have 2 look 4 them so i think i will get mine off pretty ok. but some of the boys have got it a fair bit worce and 1 of them has had a quote off of a car bodyshop place for £800 to have it done propily. there was about 20 odd cars got overspray on

wel this company said that the laquer would be stripped off so the car would need 2 be re laquerd. if this isent a good description on wha they will do im sorry but i dont understand anything when it comes to the paintwork
