Hi all,

I recently replaced the front pads on me LCR with normal Mintex one's.

These are ok - But they don't bite as well as the original SEAT / Brembo pads...

I was thinking of trying EBC Greenstuff pads - Has anybody here tried 'em?

...infact - Does EBC even make Greenstuff Pads for the LCR?

Thanks

You can get Greenstuff pads, but the Redstuff are better. I'm guessing as you went Mintex though as you don't want to pay Brembo prices?, DS2500's are reputedly very good. I have a set here to fit soon. Speak to Bill about a set :)

I've used Redstuff before on my old Escort RS Turbo - There were terrible from cold - but good when warmed up. They're also quite hard on the Discs...

I do fancy a set of DS2500's myself - But they're so expensive and don't have wear sensors...

All considering - I think the original pads are quite a good all rounder... but they do let out a fair bit of brake dust - But even these ain't cheap!

Wear sensors often don't work anyway, pretty crap on the LCR on just one side.

They don't cost a lot more than the OEM pads from a dealer, but the problem with the Ferrodo's is that you won't want to go back to anything else.

I got yellow stuff and cant complain no problem from cold only complaint is the strange ticking sound as i have ebc grooved discs too.

But im sure green stuff are not good enough for the LCR so they dont offer them they only do red stuff up

but yeah i've never relied on the wear indicator cant be trusted in my opinion

i had greenstuff's on my old mondeo and they struggled to stop that. i've had redstuff's too on my LCR and they were rubbish! they weren't that good at stopping the car, they were very noisey, they scored the discs (cross-drilled brembo's) and they lasted five months. i've now got ferodo DS performance pads all round now and they are excellent comparewd to the EBC's

Don't know why anyone would fit EBC Red to a car - they are absolutely awful if you abuse them - unlike the Ferodo which just seem to take the abuse and get on with it. I killed 3 pairs of discs running EBC Red and if I never have them on another car again it will be a day too soon.

I don't think the DS2500 are any more expensive than the OEM pads - at that point the price of the EBC is irrelevant as they're not in the same league.

I've recently had greenstuff pads fitted on my LCR and they are good. They came highly reccomended from the mechanic who sourced them for me as they are much more effective from cold than most other pads and are cheaper than brembos.
To be honest I'm still trying to take it easy on them as I'm still trying to bed them in a bit but I can just feel they're going to be fine.
Only thing I couldn't comment on is how fast they're going to wear but unless you horse it around everywhere I'm sure they'll be fine.:)
