Do you know what, i was a bit shocked when Shark quoted me £420.00!!!! Yesterday to gut and refit my Dpf & map out the regen..

its already running a shark stage1 map so £420.00 for a map tweek and Dpf removal seems high.they quoted 5/6hrs!!! For the job to surely it doesnt take that long, i recon i could get the thing out and back in a couple of hours just couldnt edit the software.i'm wondering now whether 10/15 bhp is worth i say it AGAIN £420.00..

what are peoples thoughts on this ???? is it worth shelling out for

take the dpf off then contact me :)

rip out the dpf yourself and pay somebody else to map out the regen

That's easyer said than done as when the dpf is out but not coded out it goes drives in limp mode + would it affect the shark map if somebody else played around with there settings????

Im hands on with stuff, but software stuff is out of my range of scope.....

The shark map would be gone... most "tuners" would simply copy the shark map though in experience

what does that mean gone??? You mean that they'd just overwrite the current Shark map ( which is stage 1 ) with a new map that writes out the regen, or that they'd keep the shark map & just take out the regen and call the NEW map ( which uses the shark map software ) there own map?

215-220 maximum

Me and Kilner managed about 225-230 on OEM turbo but it was illegally smokey

Kilner is Barnsley

Yer i was thinkin 210/215bhp, i know that its a trade off when you remove the Dpf more power buttttt lots more smoke. I could live with a little smoke for that kick in the arse pickup that these diesel give..

i love it when you pass "normal cars " as there not expecting you to beat them...:D

basically a remap is just an alteration of standard values on a chart

i have many original pd170 files and these values will be cross refrenced with what is on the car now and then alterd to what i think is good

the advantage i have over any one else is i have my own pd170 that i do all my testing on for a long period of time before i would even consider doin those mods in the ecu of a friend

and with me having a 280-300 bhp pd 170 i kno what the engine can take and how much the injectors can flow

many companys would not dream of the settings i am running and i would not do any other car to the point mine is at the moment but my car is still 100% and running fine

i can give around 210 smoke free after that things start to get smokey BUT i am testing things on my car atm so i can produce even more power with less smoke

i think 215-220 allmost smoke free is within reach

my biggest downfall is i dont have a dyno but all my time and effort is 100% on the pd170

my friend removed his dpf on stock tune and the car ran ok for 300+ miles without dpf off

if i do a car tho i prefer it to be an ongoin project where i give you a decent tune but not the maximum let you go away for a while and see how you get on then tweek again later down the line and update with new software mods

i just do this as a hobby so the only cost is your fuel to me and mayb a donation if you are happy after the initial donation everything from that point forward will be done for free within reason

i have seen a lot of files that many tuners have done and all that is changed is IQ,DW,BOOST,DURATION

ther is many more parts to tune that yield more power but i have yet to see a uk tuned ecu that has these tweeks

i only want to offer the above to people who are friends of friends as i have a lot to loose if any of the uk tuners get my file yet they have nothing to loose as they all buy and sell from each other and most tunes will be the stock generic crap

uk tuners = buy a file from company A for £100 rebrand the file to company B and sell to customer for £200+

every one is a winner just not the customer :)

Cheers Kilner, yer i get what your saying about most tuners sharing maps and software..

i do fancy having the Dpf delete done and extra BHP is always good!!! Is there a big difference between Dpf on and off when i've currently got stage 1 remap?

I want to map mine, but don't want to pay large amounts of cash to get the DPF gutted.

If I had a map which was "toned down" to help the DPF, maybe not out and out power but more than standard, would this be possible?

Kilner, what hardware is actually needed to get up around 270bhp? Would it just be a hybrid turbo plus smf and uprated clutch or do the injectors need changing?

IIRC he only managed about 250 with the Hybrid PD170 turbo.

Hes now running a GTB2260VK on standard injectors, He has got a Helix smf and clutch

Im not 100% what kit it is, i know it was a Darkside kit at somepoint in its life but think its been modified since

AMD's RR are known to over read aswell as well documented on here so 215bhp on their RR is about 205bhp everywhere else. AsKilner has probably told you 215+ would be VERY smokey

Im going to leave my Dpf in I think for now, im not giving shark £420.00 for not a lot of work.my car feels quick now so a Dpf delete & mayb if im lucky 15bhp more ( with some smoke ) doesnt sound very appealing. Im very tempted to get Kilner to look @ mine if I do @ some point do the Dpf as you arguments make sense about going to the big tuners....

Not sure if you can get much from this RR he sent me, this one reads 207.1bhp/315ftlbs

I'm booked into Statller next week for a remap.

Is Shark performance in Mansfield?

Is £400 the standard rate for the remaps on the PD170?
