Had a wee search but couldn't any info on any of these remap companies on SCN. So just wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

Remap UK
- £200
MAS Performance - £220
Mobile ECU Remapping

I know P-Torque is the best for around this price as everyone says, but I don't have the time or money to get to where they're based!

The above three are local to me so hence why chosing one of them!

(or if anyone else knows a good cheap remapper in the North Wales / Chester region then I'm all ears :))

How come that 3rd company was removed M0rk?

SCN had trouble with them? Am I allowed to mention their name without link to site or anything?

For that price they are Dimsport maps, i'm getting one tomorow.
Mines less than £200 though due to a discount.

A generic phase 1 map, that costs them about £150 ish? and the rest is theirs for the "time".

What's a 'Dimsport map'?

You reckon all companies for that price will have same map then?

I'd rather you didn't

We choose to have nothing to do with companies that make legal threats (however unfounded). So we have no opinion good or bad

Ah ok. That's fine. I was just curious to what they'd done that's all :)

Guess I'll be swiftly removing them from my list of possible remappers

Chances are, possibly?

Just seen this on ebay and they ay £117 for each map

wow, so there is quite a bit of money to be made with this kind of thing!

most probably are using something similar to that as they all were willing to travel to my house to do the map too!

Mate, foot the bill and go with a reputable company that are recognised... Remaps in my eyes dont come "cheap" as believe me, quality pays off in the long run. Ive just had my LCR remapped by Custom Code at JBS Autodesign in Chesterfield, and it has totally blown me away!! Ive had Jabba and Revo in the past and not been overly keen on the style of maps, so after hours and days of searching on here, Custom Code came out top dog!! Couldnt have asked for any more...... WOW!

i have just had my 20vt golf mapped.

these lovely 'cheap' maps are pure bull.
i hvent touched my car for the 2 years of owning it. i wanted my pride and joy to go to a proper company who know what they are doing.

TO MY EXPENSE. the previous owner had put an ebay special onto my ecu. :( ive had to buy a new ecu and start all over again with the car.

our leon is also in to be looked at for a similar issue. this is costing us even more than expeced :(

so please, reserch wisely and take advice from others that have had their cars mapped already. it may cost a bit more to be done, but im sure you wont regret it when your car is done properly. you will get the best gains out of your car.

have fun, hope you get sorted soon

Cheers for the comments!

If I had an LCR or equivalent I would put the time effort and money into treating it to the best map around. But after all I do only have a 110 tdi!

And although it is a little is to do with money, it's mainly due to the fact I don't have the time to travel to these reputable mapping places :( there's just non anywhere near me really!

And so the ones above are the only ones I can find which are close to me / willing to travel out to me.

get a bluefin or the equivilant, lots of places do hand held devices now which they send to you and you load the map up yourself. is your car to old for this? my bro's octavia vrs was, but if it isnt then thats def what you should do, get a tried and tested company that plenty of people here have used without having to travel

Just had a look at bluefin website and there isn't one available for my car apparently!

Recently went to see Will at P-Torque, got there and he thought it had been stage 1 before as it was boosting far to high for normal map. I had also previously spent money replacing MAF and N75 as they came up on VAGCOM, as it was surging and overboosting.

Needless to say he downloaded my suposidly standard map, and it turned out it had a cheapy remap on there where they had just removed to limits on the turbo, but not adjusting the timing or the fueling. This meant it ran lean and not very well, but had a big torque spike.

Now with a PROPER Remap on there its amazing to drive and is so much smoother than before, it like night and day between them. Its also the expertise you are paying for and the costs of developing a good quality remap.

It you want my advise steer clear of cheap remaps as you'll end up spending more to fix what problems it creates.

Hmmm, that's an interesting insight into what could happen if I went down the cheap remap route!

I want to go with P-Torque and can afford the map with them, but it's just getting down there that's the major problem for me. I just don't have the time :( I wish they did mobile mapping!

I had a fair trip from North Yorks to Wolverhampton, altho had a massive smile on way home. If you in Chester its only a short trip down the M6. Awesome GTI also a bit further north near manchester to.

Yeah steer clear of cheap remaps, you wouldn't let any tom **** and harry change you brakes, so don't get any old clown to control the brains of your car. (really poor analogy but you get the point)

Not bothered about driving the distance, it's just when I'll have time to do it, as I assume it's not a quick process so I'd have to dedicate a whole day to getting it done probably. Which right now I don't have :(

Nah, that is a very good way of putting it actually! (hence why I never change brakes myself, lol)

Without all the messing about Will had to do to find out why it was overboosing, it only took about an hour, maybe 2 at a push, to be honest i didn't even realise it was done untill he ran it for the second time on the dyno, i was across car park having a cig.

He had 6 people the day I went and was doing 9 on the day after as it was a saturday.

Also your best getting it on the dyno, as you can see there and then what it running like and they can also pinpoint little niggles there and then instead of a return trip, it any issues
