Are the speedo lights supposed to stay on all the time?

Hi all,

Just got my first LCR and I noticed that the dash lights stay on all the time, even after the car is switched off and locked.


Are they supposed to stay on all the time or is it a fault?

the dash lights up with the ignition.

i would see if other items stay on which should also turn off with the ignition, as if its not just the dash there might be a problem with the ignition. nto sure how it all works, potentially a relay?

I would disconnect the battery if you need to use it tomorrow tho. If it is just the dash lights you may be able to remove a fuse instead.

It had been left stood for a few days and hadn't run the battery down.

It's weird, they go out when I first turn the ignition off, then after about 10 seconds they just pop back on by themselves..

check your headlight switch matey! mine has a small stage right before you turn the sidelights on where if it catches it, no lights are on outside the car but it keeps the dashlights on! try forcing it slightly anti-clockwise! only thing i can think of. also if your car has a boost guage fitted someone could have wrongly connected a constant +! hope this helps

With the ignition or engine on, my dashboard, radio and AC panels all light up, without the headlights on?

The fader switch works, but you can only reduce the intensity, not switch them off... is there a way to turn them off? When it is dark, it is difficult to remember to turn my headlights on as its all nice and lit up inside!! Very annoying. At least they turn of when the engine is off i guess?

No you can't switch them off, unless you find the live and switch that.

what factory settings is permanent dash lights? really? seems very odd.

Live with engine started tbh i can't recall if they are on sooner on the ignition key or not
