Are the standard brakes really that bad on cupra

Just curious...I have had 4-pot brembo brakes before on previous car and they bit hard. Before that car, my Clio 182 just had stand single pot brakes ... I thought they were great as well - the car would stop amazingly quick. I know the 4 pots should provide a more even distribution of braking effect ... but surely if you just upgrade the brake pads this should have a major impact on your stopping power (even for single piston).

i would have liked them but couldnt justify their price, also the cupra i test drove i thought the brakes were excellent, and they were the standard ones..

Maybe its mine that is significantly bad, I too had a clio sport and that would stop amazingly well.

I am tempted to try a set of pads but at £104 + vat for a decent set it seems daft to pay this when the full upgrade is less than £450

h34ds i agree with you my standard brakes were aweful mainly fade caused this they bit hard when i pressed the brake hard but then faded far to quick i went for brembos cost me 440 for the kit 100 for the spacers and 70 for fitting 610 in total so thats about 50% cheaper than the AP racing brakes from seat........you could even buy an alloy for £280 off of seat for the spare and STILL have saved money

glad im not the only one whos suffering this problem still better then ending up in a field IMO i have been advised it may be cause of my uprated pads due to the compound being more fade resistant

the condition of our roads might not help when i drove my car in europe the brakes did fine...not great still faded....im of the opinion that they are the only thing slowing you down so if you can afford to don't skimp same with tyres

Rossers: Apparently its a by product of fitting the vented rear breaks something that can be resolved with a balance weight kit. About £100 though so that's my next investment lol

The 2 Ibiza Cupra/Boc I've driven I was pretty impressed by the standard brakes?
Used to 4-pots on my LCR and they don't seem that bad to me!

I don't have the standard rear breaks fitted. Ross had some 312mm on front and 256mm fitted on back before i bought the car. In reverse it creates this horrible screeching sound, but have just found out that an alternate the balance weight kit can be had for Alot cheaper so looks like i'll be getting it resolved soon
