So I am very confused,
I have a Ibiza 6J (2008) e.g
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Seat_Ibiza_(6J)_%E2%80%93_Frontansicht,_25._April_2011,_Ratingen.jpg

I'm trying to identify the part number for the Off Side Rear Central Locking Assembly.

What has been really confusing me is how some people class the 6J Ibiza as the "fourth generation", do they mean Mk4 or is "fourth generation" something different again?

But seatcupra.net and most other forums seem to refer to the 6J as Mk5.

Searching for Mk5 part numbers doesn't seem to bring much luck.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated!

cheers

I suspect that the simplest solution would be to phone SEAT UK or a local dealer, give them your VIN number or registration and ask them for the part number directly. Or of course have a look to see if the number is moulded/printed on the defective unit.

That photo is a pre-facelift 6J - you'll find 6J somewhere on the sticker in the boot and inside your service book to confirm that. As for the Mk4 vs Mk5 issue, mine is also a pre-facelift 6J and considered to be a Mk5 on this forum at least.

I assume that the various marks signify significant design or platform changes over the years. So the new facelift is still a Mk5 because it is essentially the same car, but with retrograde design tweaks and less equipment for your money ;)

re-read the wikipedia entry?

in summary -

UK - Seat
mk1 : mk1 (021A)
mk2 : mk2 (6K)
mk3 : mk2 facelift (6K2)
mk4 : mk3 (6L)
mk5 : mk4 (6J)
[]mk5 facelift : mk4 facelift (6J2)[]

mk5 part numbers will typically start 6J*********** iirc

Hey, thanks a lot for the replies.
nightflight, thanks for your table of marks against versions.
One thing I was wondering, Seat themselves don't really use the mkX naming on anything do they?
In reality it's just everyone else that tries to distinguish between them using anything other that the 6X numbering?
I think I'm a bit closer thanks to your suggestions.
I have found a 6J0839016A which I've seen conflicting reports on if it's off side front or rear, maybe they are the same?
Thanks again for your help.
