Arosa TDI cambelt interval

I have the Arosa 1.4 TDI S model (2001) with 45,000 miles on the clock. The Inspection & Maintenance Plan has the following two statements:

- Every 40,000 miles: Toothed belt for camshaft drive: replace (only SDI engines in the Arosa model and TDI engines with injection pump).

- Every 60,000 miles: Toothed belt for camshaft drive: replace (only TDI and SDI engines, except for the Arosa model).

But having read these statements a few times, I still don't know when the cambelt should be replaced!

Can anyone clarify?

It used to be every 60,000 or 6 years - they now recommmend you do it at 40,000 or 4 years.

Best get it booked in soon for it, but at 45k you don't have to get an emergency appointment :)

Maybe its different for you smog boys ;) I assumed it would be the same across the range, but you never know really...

But its still not clear to me whether its saying just the SDI engine has to be done at 40000 on the Arosa, but not the TDI?

My Arosa TDI on a 2003 (53) had cambelt changed at 80,000 miles!
I think you can tell via the chassis number iirc. Ifc you have a 02 in the number it is changed at 60k and if you have an 03, it is changed at 80k

Its 40K or 4 years across the range, from 1.0 to 1.4TDi.

It was 60K or 6 years but its changed to 40K 0r 4 years due to some going early or rollers breaking up.

My 2002 TDI had its done about 6 months ago at 28K, better to be safe than sorry i say, and the belt was showing cracks in it, so best i did get it changed really.

It depends who you go to, but generally a dealer would charge around £300-400, an independant garage would be more around £200-300.

But the best way to get an accurate price is, of course, to ask the garage you would be taking it to :)

The car is now 7 years old, so the mileage is irrelevent. Get it changed soon or you could be looking at an engine right off. Bernie.

If your in doubt change it. Not worth all the troubles that it could cause. I had mine done at 32k and then my friend changed it at 54k when I bought it off him. So like Nic said you still have a bit of time to get it in for the cam change.
