as promised, fitted the chip

although i didn't buy a 2.0 16v ibiza in the end i did jump the gun and get a chip for it........As some of you may remember, i did swap my c reg golf gti for an m reg golf gti 16v on the way to see the ibiza which has the abf in it as well, anyhow.....

I fitted the chip last night and i can report that the engine is more torquey and reaches for the limiter a fair bit quicker with crisper throttle response..... i've not hit the limiter to see if has been raised but for the money, i'd recommend getting one.

for reference, there are no modifications to the golf at all apart from a shite rage back box

This is a proper eprom chip and not a resistor, i got it from german ebay and it was for the ibiza and not the golf but hey ho, same engine so it worked

idle fuelling and ignition would be as stock as no need to adjust it so no worries with emissions, part throttle loads will remain stock as well, just more aggressive ignition and fuel curves on the map itself will give the gains....No mods were listed with the chip i recieved, i'll be buggered if i can find the company i got it off now!!!! I did recieve a message on ebay saying something in german along the lines of the company going bust or something and to contact a solicitor if i did not recieve my goods (that's how bablefish translated it anyhow). Maybe i'll get some copies burnt if they have gone bust ;o)

be alot more intrested if you had it RR did a couple of runs with orignal and then with this chip fitted.

i agree, give me a chance, i've only just fitted it!!!!

I got 37mpg on the way to work this morning and that is in a heavy old mk3 golf so in a lighter ibiza it could obviously be better.

I'm thinking the standard map was a little lame to be honest as the car is totally transformed, i let my mate drive it who went with me to pick it up to see what he thinks

I think I know what my answer will be but what about chips for a 1.4. Is it mission impossible?

I had clutched changed today and ECU reset so the car is alot smoother now through the gears and on acceleration. With the exhaust baffle blown out too, the car has a nice "pur" around 4000 rpm but I want some speed before I go and get an Audi A3 :p
