Yeah it is cracked mate, but i ave had advice off several people and everyone has said its not problem, It doesn't leak at all.

Many many VAG heads i removed have been cracked between the valve seats, when i have contacted technical support they saud this is very normal and not an issue, and thats inside the cylinder head. so manifold is not a issue.

Also if it was welded you run the risk of the weld coming off and going straight through the turbo.

If it aint broke dont fix i think.

Another small update tonight.

I recieved my missing Exhaust valve, so popped that in.

So head is ready to be bolted on now, will hpefully get it on this week.

Depends on your rev limiter as well matt. I cant see it "needing" cams tho on standard bore with that turbo.

From what i gather its only for GT30 and above type power and raised limiters.

Iam using standard valve spings and retainers as the budget wouldn't stretch that far, so rev limit will be 7500 i think, i dont the standard springs could cope with 8000 RPM, but feel free to correct me if iam wrong.

mines revs to 7800 matthew!! sort ya life out!! lol haha only jokin dude good progress shot gun a ride in it!

but what happens when the gasket blows out (like they do all the time on gt's)

them you have a big gap in the gasket that has no chance of sealing!

face fit if it blows will mainly be when its cold!
