In isolation the MKII interior is not bad and will say never had a rattle from mine. It is when you sit in newer cars that you really see how far behind it is. My main bugbear was the gaps in the painted silver area of the main dash and the scratchy door cards and yes now I am in an F20 1 Series :handbags: the Leon does look and feel poor. MKIII Leon was needed to move the game on, the Golf MK7 has a fab interior as does the new A3.

I certainly wouldn't say SEATS are cheap, but compared to the mother ships such as VW and Audi, then yes. However...bang for buck, you simply cannot beat the Leon. The interior is functional. I've got dual zone climate control, auto dimming mirror, cruise control, 8 airbags; all of which are not my on friends 58 reg Audi S3.

The quality and feel of my fl Cupra is fine, I'm happy with it, I don't caress it or hit it all the time to notice that somewhere in the car there's going to be a cheap sounding bit.

On the flip side though, I know what you mean. There's something about it compared to an Audi that just seems different.

You get what you pay for at the end of the day. If the mk2 leon had an interior as nice as the golf and A3 they wouldn't sell many of the others since the leon is the same internals but cheaper.

They do seem to have upped the quality in the mk3 leon which is nice too see. Honestly couldn't see why anyone would buy a mk7 golf over the leon!

Never said it wasn't functional mate. It does the job, it just looks poor compared to other cars. The quality of it is fine, there's no rattles, it's just cheap matierals used and it's just not a pleasant sight lol

I know mate, that's why I said you pay for the interior and the badge :)

The Fl MKII Leon did improve some areas such as the climate control lifted out of the MK6 Golf with nicely weighted switches the move the RNS310 as standard again nicely weighted dials and a quality feel to the push buttons. The new white display also help give a more quality look to the dashboard.

The indicator stalks and light switches were also lifted from the Golf so the parts you actually interacted with did feel good. The cost cutting was in the centre console especially around the gearstick and handbrake, was very scratchy plastic.

As I said the fact that mine never rattled did say allot about it being fitted together well, it was just the materials used that made it more low rent. But then I paid 15.5K for a brand new Leon FR TSi 211, the mechanically identical Golf GTi would have cost me at least 9K more with a discount for a posh frock that looked more Marks & Spencer than Primark - but you paid for the privilege!

I honestly preferred the interier on my pre-FL FR and Cupra if I am honest. The steering wheel is so much nicer too. (I am slightly biased tho because I was in love with my cupra:rolleyes:)

None of my SEATs have had a dodgy rattling interior tho, so that is a good sign lol.

Before i bought my FR i test drove a mini cooper. The interior on it was much more flashy and fancy than the Seat...but there wasn't much space inside (back seat and boot) and it was just way way too slow for me with no ooomph. So although i totally agree with you that the interior could do a bit better, im more bothered about the performance of the car. No point thinking how pretty the dash looks etc when it drives like cack

My 1 problem with the Mk2 Leon interior is no armrest, probably a little more storage space but that's being picky. Aside from that its Practical and I do actually like the look of it.

My dad used to have a cooper S, he didn't keep it long though... The Mini may have nicer plastics but I don't think it's put together well. He bought it brand new and it was delivered with rattles. Only had it 10 months I think before he got rid!

Yeah i kinda got that impression from reading forums and reviews etc...the whole rattly and unreliable thing. At the end of the day i prefer something that drives the way i want...and looks nice on the outside of course ;)

I also considered some audi a3's but never tested one cause i got put off by the reviews and by audis expensive servicing costs. Should have had a look inside one to see the interior after reading this thread though lol

My mum had a pre-facelift Cooper D mini (in cream with black roof - EUGH!)

Loved the interior on it tbf, especially the toggle switches and mood lighting. Wasnt a fan of the MASSSSSSIIIIIVVVEEEE speedo in the centre though, although apparently you can have the rev counter and it swapped as an option lol

I have to agree. Having gone from a MK2 Leon to an AUDI A3 S-Line, I have to say I never realised how cheap the Leon's interior felt until I got into the AUDI.

Other than the interior... how do you find the a3 compared to the Leon? I kinda thought about getting one for a while and I'm curious :)

not many people have mentioned the 50% price hike for an Audi vs a comparative Leon

I do much prefer the Facelift interior over the pre facelift
