Hello
Please bear with me - have searched the forums and not found my problem there so thought i would ask on here.
Proud owner of a pretty mint 2001 20v Cupra and love it.
Even gone old skool and burned music to CDR to play in the multi-changer.
All is well until i go over a bump and/or have been driving for a few minutes and then all of a sudden the sound drops completely from the left channel when listening to a CD.
Note - the radio works fine so it is not a speaker/speaker cable issue.

Bizarrely if I then just gently press the fascia it comes back for a short while.
Then goes again.
I have to remove the stereo and wiggle the wires to get it to play back on the left channel.

I have removed the stereo and examined the connectors - all good (apart from noting that there is nothing connected to the earth knob in the middle of the back of the stereo).

I have examined the back of the CD multichanger and it looks ok so I can only presume that the wires have a short / break somewhere between the cd multichanger and the head unit.

Can someone tell me how the two are connected as when I have tried to pull the wiring out (from the head unit side and the cd changer side) i am getting a resistance and i don;t want to pull it too much in case I break it.

I don't want to replace the head unit or changer as i like the retro ness of it
any help /tips /pointers welcomed
thank you

Hi mate, i expect it's tied to the rest of the wiring loom that runs behind the dash with cable ties. Will probably have to remove the dash to get at it.
If you can get at the connectors ok and you have the pinouts, then you could use a multimeter to measure the resistance between the 2 ends of the cable while wiggiling it and see if it changes.

Edit it you look halfway down this page there is a pin out for you. http://www.conofrei.com/service_MANUALS.html
