aura to clarion stereo problem

Hello,

Recently took the basic aura tape player unit out of my Leon 1.6S and replaced with a clarion cd player.

So far so good. And the new cd player works fine. However, when I turn the engine off and remove the key the cd player does not switch off, I have to do it manually using the on/off button.

I can turn the cd player on and off from it's own power button regardless of whether the key is in the ignition or not. I wouldn't be too concerned but one day I'm going to leave the thing playing when I get out the car and come back to a flat battery.

Having looked at the fitting instructions and compared these to the suggested layout on a previous IceCavern posting, I wonder if the 'switched' and 'permanant' power supply to the cd player might need swapping?

Does that make sense? And if that's the solution how do I physically swap the little pins in the plastic cable block thingy? Do I yank them out with brute force or is there a cunning little way to remove them without ripping at the wires?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this...

Yeah, you'll need to swap the power supply wires. My Alpine radio came with a bullet connectors on power supply wires so you can swap this easily, If you havent got one you could buy an adaptor from Halfords for about £10, or if your careful, get a small jewellers screw driver, and push the clip to release it, inside the relevant connector block, while pulling gently on the wire. and swap them around.

Thanks for the advice - the connectors came out fine using a jewellers screwdriver and a bit of encouragement.

However. Having swapped the two wires as discussed it's made absolutely no difference to the problem so I am still befuddled.

Any ideas what to do next? The only discrepancy with the clarion instructions is that they suggest cutting A-5 wire (auto antenna) on some models but don't make clear which models so I haven't done it. Could that be supplying continual power even when key is out of the ignition?

Ok so I've finally found out that the 'switched' power (yellow/red stripe) is supplying no power on turning the key.

Is there a little fuse somewhere which might have blown to cause this?

(power to the 'permanent' wire is constant as it should be)

Missing my tunes now!!

Not too far away
Sounds like the switched fuse has gone as you say.... open the drivers door and pull the trim off the side of the dash to get to the fuse box:)
