My battery keeps getting drained and I can only think it's the wiring to my gauges causing the issue.

Heres the wiring (btw the colours mentioned in the image are the colours on the gauge wiring)

The Autogauge 7 Colour dials need a constant power to remember the colour they were set to (in this case I want it to be red to match the dials).

I have the following wires out the back of my gauge:
Red - Sensor/Reading power
Yellow - Dial colour memory
Purple - Needle glow
Orange - Background glow
Black - Negative/Ground
Green - Sensor

The way I have wired it, is that the sensor turns on and the needle lights up on ignition. The dial background glows upon switching the headlights on. And the dials remember there colour off the yellow wire/live.

Anyone else got these gauges installed and managed to retain the correct colour whilst not getting their battery drained? I'm wondering whether my wiring the dial colour memory into that cable on the back of the headlight switch panel is supplying power to something else...

Thanks in advance.

What gauge is it?

I have a 7 colour boost gauge

Mines wired similar to yours except i use a different permanant live for the yellow & i also have the orange and purple wired together (to the same wire you have used for your orange)

Cant see that making much difference though

Cant imagine a gauge being able to drain a battery on its own myself

I run a wire directly from the battery and into the car for the yellow (permanant live)

Never had a battery problem and it always remembers the colour

There are 4 gauges in total in the car... Which makes me wonder...
I will change the live feed, see if it that makes a difference!
If not I will move the needle wire over to the orange as you have, see if it's that!
Thanks Berg for the quick reply!

I Know its slightly off topic but I'm wanting to wire some footwell lights from the sidelight positive ie when the switch is on the footwell lights come on too

which wire is this on this connector cannot find it anywhere?

you could use the orange or the red and purple?

Cheers I have worked out with a voltmeter now I have got full access.

I'm going to run a positive from interior light then a positive from the sidelights then earth to another point should give me the desired effect and in theory knock my side lights on when I lock and unlock the car ill let you know what happens.

unfortunately the model I have doesn't support coming home lights so this will be not as bright but similar and they should fade too which will look smart. :D
