how easy and how do you change a aux belt and tensioner on leon cupra please guys, thinking the tensioner has gone on mine causing a loud whining on revs, whining is louder on fast idle... anyone ever diyd it? looks like tensioner out, belt off back on and new tensioner but im sure its more complex than that??

help appreciated.

Use a spanner on the end to rotate it and lets you remove the belt.

3 bolts hold the tensioner on.

No pretty simple really.
Just look how it feeds around before you remove it.

you say 3 bolts hold the tensioner on, are they hex or anything or standard bolts?

good good, cheers lee. so push tensioner clockwise, allen key to hold in the hole, belt off, old tensioner off, new one on, belt back on..... job done?

all accesible from the engine bay lee please?

No allen key thingy me bob required.
Yeah all from engine, might have to get down to make sure it is over the bottom pulley fine (just turn the steering on full lock)

James, did this cure the whining noise you described? I've got a similar noise happening for a while now, aux belt/tensioner was suggested as a possible cause. Car is going in for MOT and some odds and ends next weekend so if this fixed yours then I might just get them to do that too.

I'm getting a squeaking noise on cold start and when loading the engine up when releasing the clutch to pull away.
