I am getting new tyres fitted tomorrow and have been quoted £76 each for Avon tyres or £96 each for Pirelli.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Avon tyres? Are the Pirelli worth the extra money?

I don't mind paying for a good tyre but don't want to over pay!

I think that's a bit steep. Avon tires aren't as good as say michelin. I went on camskill tires website and got 2 Michelin pilot sport 3s for 100 each and that's on 205/40/17 profile

I am running Rainsport 2's myself.

I think Avon are a good budget make and should serve you well. I was never all that impressed with the P Zeros.

My brother has had a couple of sets of Avon ZZ3's on his Ibiza. Seems to be a decent mid-range tyre. Hard-wearing but not the quietest.

£76 per tyre sounds too much - I think he paid £70-80 per tyre with buy-1-get-1-free from National Tyres and Autocare so check them out - they're always trying to flog Avon's because they get them cheap.

Tried a few places including camskill tyres £65 + postage + fitting and National tyres were £111 / £134 each depending on model so £76 seems ok!

Hopefully going to change car in the next few months so want something which will do until then!

Well my bro definitely got 2 Avon's for like £76.

I've just found a voucher from National for BOGOF on Avon & Barum tyres that they sent through the post recently. The code on it is "DV352" maybe you can input this on the website?

Maybe just ask them about BOGOF and they'll do you a deal ?

I got Avon zz3s and love em !! Cheaper and quieter than Bridgestone . Up to you but I'd take Avon over Pirelli any day .

The Avons are fitted and alignment has been set again so I'm happy!

Strange that the size was never mentioned, it makes an enormous difference to price.

Price never bothered me TBH, I just wanted to make sure that Avon tyres are reasonable quality. I already knew the price I was getting was good for the size.

Avon tyres have been around for a lot longer (109 years) than I can remember, which is quite a long time, so I imagine they must still produce a reasonable product.
It isn't a name that springs to mind when discussing tyres, so why Avon, instead of Good Year, Bridgestone, Michelin, BFGoodrich, Dunlop, Continental, Uniroyal, or even Hankook?

I have Avon zv5's on the front of my Ibiza and they are excellent in the dry, OK in the wet. People say they are fast wearing but I've done 7000 miles on them with plenty of tread left. A negative may be the road noise being higher than the last front pair i had before.

Recently drove to Italy to see the family and the tyres provided excellent grip through the French, Swiss and Italian mountain roads. For the price they are excellent value for money but with so many alternatives available its hard to decide.

Because I had been to two tyre places who seem to be unable to set alignment correctly.

This time I tried another and the tyres they had in stock were Pirelli or Avon or a really budget brand.

I will be hopefully getting a new car in a few months so if the tyres last until I get a new car I'll be happy!
