Wow... Literally wow.

This thread has got way out of hand.

I am very impressed with my clutch from Awesome GTI. It was a good price and in my budget range. It easily handles the 313lb torque I'm throwing at it. It's an upgraded single mass clutch system with no chatter / vibration / noise or anything else that makes people think twice about a single mass clutch.

I took a risk - but I took it with a reputable and well establish VAG specialist who I am certain wouldn't put their name to anything that wasn't good enough for our cars. Cost me £625 and £280 fitting and I'm happy with that as it was in my budget and has done the job.

Hope people read through this and see the good points - mainly what I say about the clutch - then read through the **** that people have posted.

Ive been keeping tabs on this one lol, also messaged awesome to see if they have read it and asked them to maybe fill in any blanks that are appearing ie where its manufactured. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here

I hope Awesome GTI say it's manufactured in a respected country, that it's been rigourously tested before being brought to market, and that they'll cover the complete costs of any failure, including damage to gearboxes and labour costs.

I found this info on Briskoka:

I think the awesome gti clutch is made by techniclutch.. as they won't tell me who it was made by and the clutch cover is red like the techniclutch trademark... also both are kevlar clutches...

and then

I've been told some of the kit is made by Borg and Beck, who I've never heard of.

This is Borg and Beck's website: http://www.firstline.co.uk/borgandbeck/index.php

then

Well I spoke to unit 18, Ali said he's fitted one before and its defiantly not silent and the customer was not impressed who he fitted it for.

Well I phoned awesome and they said the sales team are not told who makes it, That says a lot to me!!

then

Yeah my mate has an Awesome clutch and it had Techniclutch approved stickers on it.

All taken from this recent thread on Briskoda: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/227127-awesome-gti-clutch-and-smf

So that nails it....they're cheap Chinese Techniclutch kits

For info on Techniclutch and why you should avoid them, see this thread: www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3799458

I also find the way Awesome are advertising this clutch quite amusing to say the least:

After some long and painstaiking testing and development, Awesome are able to bring you the clutch solution that fits all needs !

I think that should read "After a couple of phone calls to the guy who sells Techniclutch kits on eBay, Awesome are able to bring you the clutch that might be ok, but might not be!"

I can see them withdrawing them from sale before they do any serious harm to their reputation, and offer full refunds to everyone who's bought them: they did have an outstanding reputation until now, and that's the reason people have trusted them with buying these clutch kits. It sounds like profiteering to me, and hoping they could get away with it, but they must surely realise their reputation is worth more than a few quid?!

They're on eBay for £595 from Techniclutch direct: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SEAT-LEON...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a726573ac

Comically, Techniclutch say this in their advert:

NOTE: There have been recent attempts to imitate Techniclutches distinct branding by using possibly lesser quality clutches in a similar colour scheme.

Please be aware that this is a genuine Techniclutch and you will be receiving the unit directly from the Techniclutch warehouse.

Yeah right, like anyone would try and fake a Techniclutch...lol...that's just some marketing bull to make you think they're a quality product!

That eBay item is completely different to my clutch kit except that it's red... The release bearing is different, mines actually a LUK one and came in a sealed LUK box, the clutch cover is red but the flywheel is completely different with way less holes going around the outside. Plus mines a completely different texture on the clutch plate.

Mate your wrong. Stop embarrassing yourself.

The guy on Briskoda said that a sticker with the words "Techniclutch Approved" was found on an Awesome GTI clutch kit, so on that basis I'm not wrong, you are.

leon2012 do you not realise that awesome could sue the **** out of you for the absolute bollocks that you have posted you might think that you are annonomous sitting there behind your keyboard but you are not, are you on commission for southbend? or are you just a complete dikhead that sits in your own fairy land?

i personaly think awesome are doing good by introducing a clutch and flywheel package for the price they have, and i wish the op has no problems but im sure if he did awesome would fix it, i really dont think they would put there reputation on the line and sell something thats ****
