Not aimed at anyone personally, so don't get the hump..not that i'll care that much if you do get the hump.
A message to the opinionated.
Apologies to those who don't think rules were made to be broken or changed. Loop-holes are an indication that a rule needs changing, and circumstances can't always be predicted.
Awesome are using their section to advertise a colleagues parts. As a long-term customer of Awesome I know who they are, where they are and more than likely the people selling the parts too.
Forum individuals act as individuals, no-one knows who they are and if they scam someone the victims generally complain to me or m0rk when it goes tits up. The whole crux of the matter regarding for sale threads in general... which has already been done to death.
Awesome would we expect not want to be associated with the bad karma that would come from such a bad situation arising from a deal done via their section by a member of their own staff. While they have no obligation to offer a guarantee on any used or new parts not sold directly by the company, they have the right to use their sponsor section how they see fit... in this case helping a colleague.
Sourcing 'used' or even 'new' parts from a member of Awesome's staff would we expect come at a greatly reduced risk to the buyer and quantifies any risk to the forum and its owners. So I see no reason to forbid it in this case, however it would be upto Awesome ultimately if this is an avenue they want to go down. As like the for sale section problem we have as owners of the forum, it would appear your guilty by association these days.
If you want to see that as being one rule for them and one rule for the rest of you, then I'm not going to say otherwise its spot on correct. But it won't change the opinion that I have every confidence in Awesome's good name and its staff than individuals who we rarely know from adam.
Until 'WE' have free time to make consultation about and if changes to the forum can be made that make us more comfortable with an open parts sales section, then blanket ban remains. As for it being a loop-hole, its probably a given that any site sponsor has the same reservations as us about acting as middle men for people it doesn't know.
Our time is precious and at the moment our real life and work commitments outweigh your little forum problems
At the moment our opinion is make do or log-off because the constant whining just makes it easier for us not to listen.
If the overall opinion is that the forums existence is pointless without the means to scam people then sadly its days are numbered.
If that becomes the popular opinion then it will be shutdown within the next 12 months. It won't be sold or handed on.
Use the forum as it was intended, to share knowledge! In time if we get the opportunity, we might bring parts sales back, but it will be in our own good time.
Finally a thank you to the folks that take flak and help run the forum (when we can't) and all those folks that get on and happily use the forum as it was intended.
