Hi all,

I've done a fair bit of research and head scratching with this issue so far and may end up having to get it looked at but would prefer to handle myself. Happy to be told I'm barking up the wrong tree with the below.

Mk3 2016 Leon ST Fr 2.0tdi manual.
OBD airbag fault code B101 A11 Crash sensor for front airbag, driver side, short circuit to ground.

I can clear fault but immediate detection of same fault, As far as I can tell the fault refers to the centrally placed G 190 crash detection sensor (3Q0959651A) just above the rad and the 'driver side' is not the drivers' side airbag, but a coding hang over from previous VAG models which had 2 front crash sensors G284 and G283 mounted off centre.

When removing the G 190 crash sensor from the loom, the fault remains the same fault on the scanner. The grey/red wire is grounded to body, which I initially thought could be the fault, but when the loom is disconnected from the airbag ecu the grounding is lost.

The G 190 crash sensor has zero resistance between the terminals, which if it operates the same as the latter Passat 5Q crash sensor that I have seen tested (you tube) would indicate faulty, But I have no idea how this part operates and whether there should be any resistance between the terminals when disconnected. I will order a replacement regardless as its an easy fix.

What concerns me is that the fault did not change with the removal of the sensor. If it is the sensor that was causing the fault code 'short circuit to ground' I would have expected the fault code to change to an 'open circuit' or 'out of expected range limit' fault code when removed. This makes me concerned that in fact it may be the ecu.

.....or I'm talking total nonsense. Any thoughts?

I went down the seat connector and door loom wire breaks before I realised these applied to previous models. Removing the under seat connector brought about a second fault (as disconnected) but did not eradicate the first.

Hopefully someone can help me out, but if right or wrong do please comment as finding info has been a nightmare and it could help the next person down the same route path.
Huge thanks to Paddy for posting the links to the Seat Leon manuals .

G190 sensor changed, still faulty.
Does anybody know of a good specialist SEAT / electrical mechanic in the Malvern Worcester area that I could take the car to?
